Shared with JCB. Dark black pour with burnt wood edges and a profuse crackling head. Some chocolate/cacao, earthy malt, and a touch of sweetness in the nose. A light sweetness and some smokey/roasty notes show in the flavor. Chocolate and a touch of coffee grounds. Light bodied and thin. JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - APR 7, 2013
Thanks, Ethan! Inky black pour with a too-tall head that’s gone like that. Not much coffee in the nose at all, just weird thin chocolate. Over-carbonated, doesn’t come across like an oatmeal stout at all in terms of heft and mouthfeel. Taste is bright and buoyant, like a sweet brown ale. Strange, given the other ratings. With my love of this style, I was hoping for more. MIBRomeo (2579) - Wisconsin, USA - DEC 17, 2010
Black pour w/ a nice head. Lots of fresh coffee hints of grains and a ?? that I can’t read in my notes anymore. Flavor was full of nice coffee w/ a big hit of roast malt & a light milk chocolate. Avg palate. Delicious brew. JaBier (8253) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - NOV 14, 2010
On cask at the Blue Nile Stoutfest on 10/30/10. Black pour with a medium tan head. Aroma is heavy on the coffee with some chocolate and roast. Flavor is also a lot of coffee with chocolate, vanilla and a roasty finish. Wow, this beer was special.
