a really good average stout, suitable for repeatable drinking. would like to have this one local as a regular backup. JK (6332) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - FEB 19, 2014
Tap at Grumpys Roseville. Black. Sweet aroma with lactose I think. Sweet and roasted malt. Some chocolate. Solid. madvike (3303) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 3, 2014
Bottle - Pours black with a creamy tan head. Nose is chocolatey and milky with a smooth oatmeal graininess. Lightly sweet. Taste brings the chocolate and medium roasted dark malt, lightly chalky with some milkiness and a long bitter finish. Smooth and silky body with medium heft. Good stuff. Pours very dark with decent brown head that fades quickly and not much lacing. Aroma is sweet lactose that is pretty restrained overall and has only a hint of roast to it. Taste is much more sweet than stout - which is fine. Then, a little bit of dark malts and just another hint of roast. Not really any coffee. Palate is noticeably carbonated with a pretty thin, hollow, watery finish - the beer’s only obvious flaw. Still, if this is truly 8%, it’s masked well, and goes down easy. calebrum (40) - Saint cloud, Minnesota, USA - MAR 5, 2013
Smokey, full-bodied and nutty. The perfect winter beer to warm up to, I think...........

Bottle. Dark black pour, a little lasting gray head and an aroma of milk sugar and a little chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt, some sweet sugar and chocolate with a very thin body. Decent beer, wished it was a little more hearty. MNBeerguy42 (30) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 14, 2013
1/14/13 Bottle Four Firkins SLP, MN.
Pours jet black with disappating tan head, very little lacing. Aroma is oats and slight raw cocoa. Taste is grain roasted malt bitter cocoa aftertaste. Very palatable and it hides the 8% well. Very smooth and drinkable, not the best choco stout I’ve had but pretty darn good.
