A very nice chocolate oatmeal stout. Doesn’t have the body or complexity of Victory Storm King or Founders Imperial Stouts. No surprise there. Very drinkable and a superior example of the "Chocolate Oatmeal Stout" breed. Lesser brews should be considered "Nevermore". burg326 (5607) - Florida, USA - MAR 17, 2012
12 ounce bottle pours a dark brown color with aromas of roasted malt, oats, cocoa, vanilla, and a hint of coffee. Flavors are much the same with a slightly boozy aftertaste, nice beer overall. drpimento (3759) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 16, 2012
Served at a good temperature with a nice, tan, foamy, thick, fine head that settles and a little lace. Color is an opaque black brown. Aroma is malt, roast, cocoa, trace vanilla, coffee, walnuts. Flavor’s similar to nose with very good balance betwixt the sweet, tart, and bitter. Body and carboantion are very good for style. Finish is like flavor with vanilla and a little booze coming forward. Deceptively easy drinking beer. Great for chilly willys. And I like it too!

Works for me. Produces a sensible, diminuitive head; dark brown body with obvious carbonation. The carbonation is quite noticeable in the tasting, too, though it is soft enough to be overlooked until it burns off a bit more. Good chocolate flavors, relatively controlled sweetness, though I didn’t mind that at all (sometimes finding oatmeal stouts a bit off kilter for my tastes). Poured some onto a chocolate brownie and it totally worked for me! Bottle. Drank on St. Valentine’s Day. MrPickles (571) - Waunakee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 13, 2012
12 oz bottle. Little aroma or taste of the chocolate. Not great but not bad.

Thirsty Troll Brew Fest. Pour is deep brown/black with a khaki head. Aroma is sweet with notes of chocolate, roasted oats, and a touch of coffee. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of vanilla and earth. Overall body is moderate to full and finishes with a nice roasted bitterness. 12oz bottle from mattyb83, thanks Matt! Pours a black colored body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma has a big mix of dark cocoas and sweeter chocolates as well as a moderate roast and light coffee, smooth oats, a touch of vanilla, and a hint of bitterness to the cocoas. Flavor is similar. Lots of smooth oats with plenty of dark cocoas and sweeter chocolates up front before a touch of vanilla comes in. A moderate roast to balance the chocolates as well as a light coffee and touch of toasty grain. Finishes fairly dry with a really nice bittersweet chocolate, a light roast, and a touch of hop bitterness before leaving a lengthy aftertaste following a very smooth, medium body and a soft, moderately lively carbonation. Overall, a really enjoyable sweet stout. Lots of chocolates with a nice mix of bittersweet dark cocoas and sweeter, richer chocolates all balanced well with a solid vanilla and a nice mix of roasts, coffee, and a touch of hops. Great beer. emeinz (224) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 8, 2012
Bottle to glass. Aroma has some roasted malts. Sweet smell. Heavy notes of coffee and chocolate. A little toasty as well. Nice black pour with moderate beige head. Nice and smooth. Moderate carbonation. Not as sweet as I h ad expected from the aroma. Slight bitterness on the finish. Not bad, but not as good as I expected DasBierChef (1084) - Hudson, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 1, 2011
I’ve been hoping for so much more from this brewery... But they have yet to release anything that really wows me. This is not an exception, sadly. vikingguy (1106) - Carver, Minnesota, USA - JUN 2, 2011
Great looking beer...Very dark red color, almost pitch black, lots of floating sediment and tall foamy brown head. Aromatic roasted chocolate malt aroma. Taste is rich, roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee. Tastes a lot like the super-dark 60% cacao Geridelli chocolates that my mother-in-law always has on hand. Good bittering hops on the tail end. Just an overall excellent stout. Big, rich, complex, drinkable. Maybe the best stout I’ve had.
