Pours a nice thick, black with little to no head. Chocolate and roasted malt flavors. Nice sweetish aftertaste, Like this one. Guerde (1297) - Leuven, BELGIUM - FEB 2, 2011
(bottle) Pours jet black with a large tan head that quickly settles to a medium cap and adequate lacing. Aroma of chocolate, a lot of roasted barley, faint smoke, and some tartness which is regrettable. Caramel corn. Taste is strong of roasted malt, chocolate, slightly burnt chocolate chip cookie, and maybe a hint of dark roasted coffee. High ABV is nowhere to be found. The mouthfeel of this beer is really the standout feature. Very smooth, silky, and full with a nice even roast displayed in the finish. Overall this is a solid stout, and the mouthfeel really makes up for the detrimental aroma. arnold931 (1261) - Iowa, USA - OCT 5, 2015
Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose is chocolate and coffee. Taste is powdered milk chocolate and some coffee. Good. Nsanders (1190) - St Paul, Minnesota, USA - MAR 14, 2011
Near black with a tan head. Sweet chocolate, malty nutty aroma. Medium sweetness to accompany the smooth creamy texture. Medium towards heavy bodied. Delicious. vikingguy (1106) - Carver, Minnesota, USA - JUN 2, 2011
Great looking beer...Very dark red color, almost pitch black, lots of floating sediment and tall foamy brown head. Aromatic roasted chocolate malt aroma. Taste is rich, roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee. Tastes a lot like the super-dark 60% cacao Geridelli chocolates that my mother-in-law always has on hand. Good bittering hops on the tail end. Just an overall excellent stout. Big, rich, complex, drinkable. Maybe the best stout I’ve had.

Black with tan head. Roast, licorice, mild alcohol, chocolate aroma and flavor. Full bodied, syrupy, and alcohol-malt roast finish.

I’ve been hoping for so much more from this brewery... But they have yet to release anything that really wows me. This is not an exception, sadly. Ericular (1042) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 19, 2013
Pours very dark with decent brown head that fades quickly and not much lacing. Aroma is sweet lactose that is pretty restrained overall and has only a hint of roast to it. Taste is much more sweet than stout - which is fine. Then, a little bit of dark malts and just another hint of roast. Not really any coffee. Palate is noticeably carbonated with a pretty thin, hollow, watery finish - the beer’s only obvious flaw. Still, if this is truly 8%, it’s masked well, and goes down easy. camborne (1029) - Hopkins, Minnesota, USA - JAN 21, 2013
Interesting dark brew. A touch watery with roasted.malt flavors. Not quite what im looking for in a dark beer IlanMan (1015) - Appleton, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 1, 2010
On tap at Ed’s Bar in Winona, MN. Pour was dark with a creamy light tan head. Aroma was of light chocolate, light roast, caramel, and oats. Flavor was well blended with chocolate, roast, and a creamy mouth feel. This was a real nice oatmeal stout. I was impressed.
