1/14/13 Bottle Four Firkins SLP, MN.
Pours jet black with disappating tan head, very little lacing. Aroma is oats and slight raw cocoa. Taste is grain roasted malt bitter cocoa aftertaste. Very palatable and it hides the 8% well. Very smooth and drinkable, not the best choco stout I’ve had but pretty darn good. Nsanders (1136) - St Paul, Minnesota, USA - MAR 14, 2011
Near black with a tan head. Sweet chocolate, malty nutty aroma. Medium sweetness to accompany the smooth creamy texture. Medium towards heavy bodied. Delicious. XmnwildX12 (2079) - Farmington, Minnesota, USA - MAY 1, 2011
Tried this beer at the Casanova Beer Cave Festival (2011), this was my favorite beer of the festival, great roast taste. drpimento (3568) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 16, 2012
Served at a good temperature with a nice, tan, foamy, thick, fine head that settles and a little lace. Color is an opaque black brown. Aroma is malt, roast, cocoa, trace vanilla, coffee, walnuts. Flavor’s similar to nose with very good balance betwixt the sweet, tart, and bitter. Body and carboantion are very good for style. Finish is like flavor with vanilla and a little booze coming forward. Deceptively easy drinking beer. Great for chilly willys. And I like it too!

Smokey, full-bodied and nutty. The perfect winter beer to warm up to, I think...........

A very nice chocolate oatmeal stout. Doesn’t have the body or complexity of Victory Storm King or Founders Imperial Stouts. No surprise there. Very drinkable and a superior example of the "Chocolate Oatmeal Stout" breed. Lesser brews should be considered "Nevermore". Tripplebrew (778) - Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA - APR 16, 2010
Pours an opaque chocolate brown with thin tan head. Aroma is chocolate cream. Flavor is chocolate cream and vanilla. Body is creamy. badgerben (5108) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - APR 15, 2010
Black color with a tall head that falls fairly quickly. Sweet malt and chocolate aroma. Silky, milk chocolate flavor. Not a pronounced oatmeal taste, but definitely had an effect on the mouthfeel. Some roasted malt, but generally quite sweet without being cloying. Very nice. nuplastikk (6206) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 13, 2011
12oz bottle, says 8%. Deep opaque brown-black, big luscious rusty beige head. Smooth chocolate aroma. A really well done beer, very sweet and sugary. Big vanilla chocolate tones. The alcohol is impressively hidden. Roasty, mossy, some oily sweetness. Somewhat hollow, watery finish. Overall pretty solid beer. vikingguy (1101) - Carver, Minnesota, USA - JUN 2, 2011
Great looking beer...Very dark red color, almost pitch black, lots of floating sediment and tall foamy brown head. Aromatic roasted chocolate malt aroma. Taste is rich, roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee. Tastes a lot like the super-dark 60% cacao Geridelli chocolates that my mother-in-law always has on hand. Good bittering hops on the tail end. Just an overall excellent stout. Big, rich, complex, drinkable. Maybe the best stout I’ve had.
