Bottle into pint glass. Pours a clear copper colour with nice tan head. Aroma is earthy and orangey hops. Taste is earthy fruity hops with a touch of malt. Smooth bitterness. Great beer.

Light white head and a clear copper body. Very strong Aroma of hops, bitter taste at first transitioning to a smooth caramel taste and the a strong hoppy finish.

Bottle to Sam Adams glass, the pour is a transparent red-amber with a small white head that quickly fades. The aroma is weak and quite hop forward for an ESB. Piney and citrusy and hardly any sign of biscuit/caramel/toffee.Taste is too bitter to be an ESB and is way loaded with hops. This is not an IPA, it’s an ESB or so the bottle says. Ignoring the style stuff this is good but I don’t like bullshit surprises. Palate is good...thin, easy to drink, balanced well. Carb is pretty high for the style. Overall...I’m getting the impression that these guys love to chuck more hops than necessary into every style of beer and mislabel it accordingly. They should just call this IPA #76...points off for being misleading.

Pours copper, decent head. Aroma of malty caramel. Taste is slightly hoppy caramel toasted malts. Very good from my old home town brewery.

On tap @ The Flying Pig (Gastown). Amber colored pour with a soapy off-white head. Some bread, toasted malt, and floral hops. Slightly spicy and earthy. A lot of caramel, too. Flavor is a bit on the sweet side--lots of caramel and toast. Slight brown sugar. Light grassy bitterness. Some earthy and a lot of leafy, floral hops. Nice copper golden colour, thin head, slight floral hop aroma. First sip, I am taken aback. Extremely complex bitterness, moves from the sides to the back of the tongue, leaving a lingering ghost of the huge flavour in its wake. Nice citrus in the aroma with some breadiness. Nice medium bitterness that is not astringent. Some sweetness. Nice and clean. Surprising new world ESB.
