Unexpectedly bitter in a good way. Bitterness lingers at the back. Pours a sunset like amber with a creamy light head rimming the glass. Lightly funky aroma with hints of berry and pear.
Hits the style, Ren’s bottle. Light brown and lace. Caramel and lots of wheat. Decent drinkability. fiulijn (21274) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 6, 2014
Cloudy amber color with small head. Aroma of overripe fruits, some alcohol, glue. Smooth mouthfeel, full bodied, moderately sweet; anonymous cardboardy malt flavor, with a touch of liquorice, strong bitterness, chicory bitterness in the end, and a dusty feeling.stantheman (1098) - British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 19, 2013
Messy, difficult to drink.
Bomber purchased at Legacy Liquor in Vancouver. A hazy orange amber ale with modest whitish head. Fruity on the nose. Taste-wise, this here’s a flavor explosion of dried, candied fruit, malts and hops. A barleywine...but with wheat! I’m much liking it. Yes, the alcohol is evident. Nice. Bottle - Wheat, honey and pale malts. Clear gold with a rich beige head. Apricots, honey and orange with quite a bit of alcohol heat. It is surprisingly balanced though and the alcohol although very much there doesn’t overwhelm. Lagerboy (2239) - British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 29, 2013
Bomber poured into snifter. Clouded orange copper, off-white foamy head vanishes. Luscious fruity aroma of apricot, berries, orange brandy and spice. Strong tart fruity boozy taste, big wheat tang kick, medium floral bitter hops. Softly carbed, full bodied, long dry finish. DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys)

pours translucent golden copper brown with almost no head, ringed retention, and a few steady streams. Sweet alcoholic malts and orange peel on the nose.
Attack: 7/10-rich malty sweetness, med-heavy/med-bitter alcohol
Mid-palate: sharp hoppy bitterness, thick caramel malts, creamy-light-fizzy mouthfeel, hints of cassis, tangerine backdrop
Finish: lingering grapefruit hoppy bitter, alcohol bitterness, bittersweet malty finish.
The alcohol is well-hidden but this beer becomes too heavy and predictable halfway through the bottle. RumRunner101 (918) - Alberta, CANADA - APR 1, 2013
Golden pour with limited white head. Sweet nose; agave, apricot. Full bodied and full flavoured - wheat, yeast, piney and citrus hops and bit of sweetness and spice. Alcohol is noticeable. Well done, but not really my thing. pictoman (1212) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 31, 2013
Poured from 650mL bottle. Cloudy orangey gold with mild white head. Smells of black currant, malts, and varnish/white out. Starts off bitter with a tangy sweet stonefruit taste to end. Very malty. mcberko (18998) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 23, 2013
650mL bottle, pours a hazy dark orangey amber with a small white head. Aroma of caramel, apple skins, toffee, and candied sugar. Flavour brings out dry piney hops, caramel, apple skins, and modest candied sugar. Surprisingly fairly complex, with quite a dry hoppy body, not as thick as a barley wine, so it’s quite easy-drinking. Great stuff - one of Russell’s best. (650ml bottle) Nose of hops and decent grain base. Not overpowering but decent depth. Very impressed.
