Too much tar to it to be a top-notch double ipa but good 100 IBU punch. Good not great.

Pours a fairly clear copper with a big rocky white head that slowly settles and leaves a lot of lace. Aroma is resin, pine, citrus, tropical fruits and moderate sweet maltiness. Flavour is resin, pine, milder citrus, grapefruit, a bit harsh, a touch astringent, and moderate alcohol. slowrunner77 (12037) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 24, 2014
"Kinda lacking for a IIPA in a crowded field, especially in SoCal. Restrained is the key. This beer does little to distinguish itself. Some citrus hops and a slightly bigger body, but not nearly floral, aromatic or bitter enough for a double. 2013-better on 2nd take. 3rd time on draft at Rough Draft...every other hoppy beer they make is better. Weird." DuffMan (10423) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 20, 2014
Bottle. Hazy orange, off white head. Sweet caramel malts, melon and light citrus, long bitter finish. Not bad, but pretty mundane.

Golden-bronze colour. Thin head. The aroma is cantaloupe and grapefruit with light pine and a lot of chewy crystal sweetness. On the palate it has a fair bit of chewiness but has a sweet candied fruit character, with light alcohol. Good brew, balanced.

Think I picked the wrong night for this. Already tired from long nights, 1/3rd in I’m feeling this. Even though I’ve had my glass capped it has not gained a strong aroma. Pine, sharp citrus, building sweetness from an early on state of not much. Smells mean and unforgiving. Bit of orange, fruit aromas building due to warmth. The smell indicated possible harsh flavours correctly. Pine and spice and bite rule this adventure. Minor fruit is somehow hidden by hard bitterness. Light nose heat, slight caramel, sweetness without defined character. I dig it. Notable carbonation and zero let up of bitterness - ever. It’s been a while since I’ve had a hard iipa and I think I forgot how much I enjoy not being coddled with luxurious ideas like sweet caramel and tasty tropical fruits. The good price will have me find more. It’s not quite harsh but it’s not a gentle journey. pintbypint (3634) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 4, 2014
650ml brown bottle. Medium gold pour, some light haze. Head is big and white. Nose has citrus and pineapple notes. Taste has some sweet malts, a bit boozy and slightly hot alcohol, citrus hops. Finishes with some mixed citrusy hops and lingering alcohol, good lingering bitterness. Medium body, fine pointed carbonation. A pretty good effort from Russell, better than most things they do. If you lean toward big sweeter heavier Double IPA’s this is in your alley. I find it a bit unpolished. Boutip (6374) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 4, 2014
Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine is pretty intense with light caramel malt notes also noticeable. Taste is also pretty heavy on the citrus notes with plenty of piney hoppy notes with some lightly sweet caramel malt that can be detected and a bitter finish. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Enjoyable but unfortunately a tad too sweet for my taste. ljthiessen (1348) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - JUN 13, 2014
Bottle. Golden orange pour with a pillowy off-white head. Tons of hops, with a mixture of citrus and tropical fruit notes, nicely balanced with malts. Nothing incredible, but definitely an enjoyable DIPA.
