Bottle into pint glass. Pours a clear brown colour with tan head. Aroma is smokey and woody. Taste is smokey with a Carmel sweetness and light bitterness. PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 16, 2016
Chilliwack, BC - Sardis Liquors - 650 ml bottle. Dark brown pour, khaki colored head with some lacing. Aroma has some smoked meaty accents, but not overpowering, brief wisps of band-aids. Flavor is full bodied and rib sticking with some caramel sweetness, some smoked oyster saltiness and does not overwhelm you with the smokiness - a non-smoked beer lover would enjoy this without being intimidated. Thick enough mouthfeel. Overall, pretty solid.Rating #44 of my 2016 vacation. AgentAle (1750) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 8, 2016
Aroma is smokey wood, ash, pepperoni and slight caramel. Taste is roasted malts , caramel, burnt wood and slight tart. Sadly however the tastes dissappear to a somewhat bland watered down taste. Appearance is a clear brown with a beige head that retains fairly well. thb (829) - Alberta, CANADA - JAN 2, 2016
Aroma is woodsmoke. Pour is mostly clear dark dark brown, big bubbles on the head, which reduces to a film. Taste is again, smoky from start to finish. As a smoke fan, this is good. Behind, the smoke, it’s a little thin, and a little vegetal. DeanF (2464) - Alberta, CANADA - AUG 11, 2015
Okay head and brownish body but you can see through it, sort of. Very heavy smelly leather aroma, beef jerky, nitrite smoke. Flavour is heavy and thick smoke with leather. Chewy. Harsh stuff to drink. I’ve never been a huge fan of smoked beers and this one comes on too strong.

Bottle from CANBIF 2015 via Ferris. Mahogany with a tan head that mostly fades. I am picky when it comes to smoked beers and this one had a combination of burnt maple syrup with smoked meat and some campfire characteristics that just didn’t combine well for me. pintbypint (3641) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - APR 14, 2015
650ml brown bottle. Dark orangey brown in colour, looks clear. Small beige cap, thin lacing. Aroma is smoky and meaty. Taste - nice up front smokiness, meaty notes, light sweetness, touch of hops. Finishes with a little bitterness and dryness and light smoky aftertastes. Another surprisingly good beer from these guys, I’d almost given up on them. Bottle, the second beer on TvM’s Bachelor Party Northwest Ale Trail Expedition. Medium tea coloured amber. Aroma of campfire smoke, slightly meaty. Thinnish caramel malt, but lovely smoke character in the true Bamburg tradition. Nicely done. simonblaine (576) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 15, 2015
Pours black, big head. Aroma of Smoke mesquite. Taste is mesquite, dark roasted coffee. It’s ok, a smidge fake tasting. patricks110 (2495) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 10, 2015
A fantastic brew. Russell is making some great stuff lately. Pours a light brown amber with a finger of foamy yellowish head. The aroma has a smoky predominance with an earthy malt that includes notes of bacon, vanilla and heavy wooden aromas. A bit sweet up front with light toffee malt notes and a bit of a light fruity flavor. There are layers of smoked malt that make this a complex brew with a moderate smoke profile. The finish has light bitterness. A very much accurate Bamberg style Rauch but for the lighter body and slight sweetness. A great brew regardless.
