Ale with currants added and aged in oak barrels.

When we made the Toronados 20th Anniversary Ale, we had no idea that it would turn out to be one of our favorite barrel aged beers we would ever make. With that said, we have always wanted to make a dark barrel aged beer using 100% Cabernet Sauvignon barrels but, we never were inspired. That is, until we blended five different beers to make the Toronado beer, the tobacco character from the the dark malts blended nicely with the furit character that developed in blending. So, with Concescration we set out to make a barrel beer using all Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. No, we are not saying that this is a replica of the T-rooms anniversary beer, after all, a beer like that can never be duplicated, and, there was no fruit added to that beer as there is with this one. All we are saying is that it gave us great inspiration to brew Consecration.

[Bottle] Pours reddish-brown with almost no head. Aroma is awesome. Leathery, acetic acid, berry, subtle vanilla; lots of barrel in general, but in all the right ways. Taste is outstanding too. Oak again, fairly tart, good amount of fruit that is well integrated--would have probably have pegged this as raspberry or blackberry, some alcohol. Pretty dry, long finish that is great--leathery. Overall, this is just an excellent beer. I wish I had bought more of this while I was out in California.

Bottle from Michael Burd -- cheers, buddy! Tart, dark, and complex, with distinct oak and fruit flavor, balanced by a sizable sourness. This is the kind of beer that wine country does best.

Pours a slightly cabonated deep reddish brown. Nice oak wine aroma. Taste is nice and tart, but smooth and sweet at the same time. Can really pick up on the oak.

Review from notes. Mahogany color with beige head. Aroma is really fruit forward with the currants making me think of blackcurrant wine. Also some caramel and wood notes. Taste is sweet with fruits and caramel notes at first but gets intensely sour and acidic on the finish and aftertaste. You can get a bit of warming alcohol too. Really nice fruit profile and complex taste.

This is the best sour Ive ever had. I joked that it tasted more like red wine than beer after each sip, but it really does combine the best of both very effectively. Its sweet and its sour and its easy to smell all the complex goings-on from the currants fermenting in the oak barrels. Id drink this again and again.

From a 375 ml bottle into a Leffe glass. Batch "004x4." Pours brown with minimal head and lace. Aroma of fermented cherries and oak. Significant carbonation and big mouthfeel. Flavors of tart apricot, cherries, apple, plums, currant, and slight malt. Overall mouth puckering tart with a fruity complexity.

Trs russie!

Bottle shared at a tasting. Thanks Jon! Pours a clear orange-amber with a small off-white head. Cab-forward nose with lots of dark fruit: cassis, plum and juicy red grapes with some oak and light vanilla as it warms. Again the nose is very vinous with good tart character. Average carbonation with a medium body. Fruit forward on the palate with some light oak. Dry finish with good sourness. Awesomeness.

Bottle, thanks Jon. Nice. Very rounded, rich and fruity, light booziness, wine. Aroma has funk, fruit, sourness. Booze only comes at the end. Almost liqueur like. Very nice.
