Strong scent of fruit and yeast. Golden pour with rocky white head. Very pronounced flavors of sour apple and extra tart hard cider, pears, and orange rind. Yeastiness follows through in the finish. A very interesting golden. shadey (2135) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 18, 2006
Clear golden color with a thin creamy white head that quickly diminishes. Dry grassy aroma. Some sweet malt as it warms. Very nice. BeerPrince (1701) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 18, 2006
Clear golden hue with a small light head and thin lacing. Nose of apricot, orange peel, corriander, earthy yeast and pepper. The flavour was sweet malts, pear and a light citrusy touch. Subtle and enjoyable. GregClow (3402) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 16, 2006
UPDATED: MAY 17, 2006 Bottle shared with a bunch of folks - courtesy of blankboy. Cloudy golden colour with a faint greenish tinge. Aroma is spicey and floral, with a faint yeasty funkiness. Flavour has honey and floral notes off the top, an earthy maltiness in the middle, and a well hopped finish. ryan (3186) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - MAY 16, 2006
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2008 Batch 012. Consumed on 1/6/08. Pours a clear golden with big, white head - some lace. The aroma is banana, apricots, bread, lemon and herbal hops. The flavor is dough, banana, lemon, pears, apple, pepper, lots of honey and slightly tart at the end. The mouthfeel is very soft with lively carbonation and a touch of warmth on the finish. Fantastic piece of craftsmanship.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, tupalev, jerc, R. and the rest of the gang -- my bottle courtesy of DarkElf. Pours a very hazy yellow with an average size lasting foamy white head. Great aroma of spices, yeast, lemon and alcohol. Delicious sweet and spicy flavour follows the aroma and finishes with a nice dry bitterness. Medium bodied. This is a very nice example of the style and a very good beer. Gorbalev (3000) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 14, 2006
Bottle shared with a bunch of fine folks. Yeasty, spicy, alcohol, soft aroma. Hazy yellow, small white head. Really nice soft spice, lemon, alcohol taste. Wonderful example of the style. Tastes a little stronger than the 7%. Very nice. HogTownHarry (6823) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - MAY 14, 2006
Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc, tupalev, DougShoemaker, R and others - blankboy’s bottle. Cloudy yellow with a large pillowy white head, pretty much exactly what you’d want it to look like (4+). Bang on-style aroma, blended spices, sweet fruity malt, tangy yeast, lemon zest .. even has a hint of sourness on warming. Taste follows the nose, more alcohol evident, some light graininess to the malt, a welcome black pepper and yeast bitterness brings balance to the finish. The body is a little light, but it works well - mouthfeel is lightly astringent and juicy, very smooth but not a shy and retiring blond belgian. Excellent - very easy to drink, excellent. Batch 8 poured a cloudy golden body with a pretty large pillowy head. It was poured into its official glass. Amazing lacing, possibly better than Orval. Like some others, this reminded me of Duvel. But.. this also has a fairly fruity aroma. The spices are there, the pepper is there. The balance is there. Now add a fruit complexity and a lower pricetag. Hmmm. I even picked up a small hop presence, I think it’s the same variety as the (I)IPA. I got a small tinge of alcohol in the finish, which was my only complaint. This brewery is still invincible based on what I’ve had though.. slcbrewer (44) - USA - MAY 10, 2006
An excellent golden Belgian style ale, perhaps the best clone of Duvel I’ve had. Probably better than the original.
Not as bananny as I was expecting, with actually some sweet citrus notes present.
Very good, and definitely lives up to Russian River’s reputation.
