COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Each time we make this ale we pick a different single variety of hops and use them exclusively in the brew. The malt bill stays fairly consistent from batch to batch so as to allow the distinctive hop flavors to come through. Here are just a few of the hops used in the past: Simcoe, Vanguard, Sterling, YCR-004, Amarillo, Azzaca, Idaho 7 (NJ7), Satus, Santium, Tomahawk, and Columbus. Available on draft seasonally.O.G.: 1.060;50 BU’S.

Editor: Please make note of the hop variety when ordering and rate under the correct variant rather than this generic entry if possible

This one was was on draft at the brewpub with the Sterling hops and listed at 5.80% ABV on the board. I had a draft pour and likec it so well I took home a growler. It poured a nice golden color with a good white head and lots of lacing. Nose is citrus and pine hop odors, so even though there is only one hop variety, this hop has multiple aromas. The mouthfeel was slick and creamy. Flavor is very classic IPA with some bitterness. Shows you don’t have to pack a beer with dozen different hops to make it taste good. Bitter finish. Simply a very drinkable and enjoyable brew.

On tap at RR. Bright golden orange color, very little carbonation. Big grassy hop aroma and flavor, hay, light spices, light yeast. Really nice, like how it lets the hops shine without a lot of other stuff getting in the way. Very drinkable, not too much lingering bitterness.

On tap at the brewpub. I didn’t hear very many good things about this one, so I only ordered a sample. I wish I could have had more because it was darn good! Light golden yellow with a white head. The aroma was floral and citrusy with hints of tropical fruit. The flavor was the same. Very fresh and hop forward. It may suffer a bit next to Pliny and Blind Pig or even Row 2, but it was a very nice, light hop forward beer.

On tap at Russian River brewery in Santa Rosa. Pours golden with a white head and sweet, fruit, hoppy aroma. Taste is of tropical fruits up front, with hops, citrus, caramel, and toasty notes leading to a bitter, dry finish. Nice IPA

BOLTZ7555 (3127) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 29, 2014
On tap @ RR! 14 karat pour with a small ivory crown. Grapefruit pith, mango, papaya, and guava all present themselves in the nose and on the palate. Well crafted but not robust. Lots of subtleties that make it a cut above other single-hop beers I’ve had before but still not terrible complex. Glad I had a chance to try this!

Had on draft at the brewery. I got notes of floral and fruity hops with a soft onion character. There was a sweet maltiness. Not bad.

Tardif version.
Clear golden colour with a small white head. Mild sweet hops in a mild aroma. Mild bitterness and mild hops in the flavour. A bit faceless hop variety.

Idaho #7 version.
Clear golden colour with a small white head. Sweet fruit, tangerine and soda hops in an amazingly delicious hoppy aroma. Soda hops, moderate bitterness, dryness and orange peel in the flavour. Very tasty.

I’m not quite sure how the rate this as these two varieties of this beer are completely different. I’ll go with the Idaho #7 version.

On tap at the brewpub. Clear gold pour with thin white lacy white head. Aroma is really hoppy, nice fruity grassy hop, citrus. Taste is bitter, juicy hop. Palate is med bodied with good carbonation. Tasty.

Ibrew2or3 (8814) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAR 13, 2016
Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a clear copper body that has thin gold hues and supports an off white head. The aroma offers up biscuit like malts and earthy floral and spicy hoppiness The taste delivers biscuit like malts and lightly roasted malts to go along with earthy spicy hops, some bitter citrus hops, a dash of tropical fruity hoppiness and then some floral hops.
