4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JAN 30, 2010 Appearance: Golden/amber in color. Forms a thick, frothy white head, seems to last forever.
Aroma: Immediately hit by an intense floral hop aroma. Further sniffs reveal some citrus (perhaps grapefruit) and pine notes.
Taste: Quite bitter and hoppy up front but finishes with a light malty sweetness and a refreshing pine-y aftertaste that lingers but begs for more.
Palate: Very smooth, nice carbonation. Super clean aftertaste and mouthfeel, nothing in particular lingers.
Overall: A fantastic beer indeed. I went into this glass a bit hesitant; the intense aroma kind of put me off as I really don’t have much taste for heavily hopped brews, but the complex taste and spot on aftertaste had me enjoying sip after sip. Definitely worth savoring, but damn easy to drink, too, and at 8%...
Hard to find even in San Diego, Ca. Gorgeous golden color. Delicious tropical, piney, citrus. Too easy drinking. Outstanding! gripweed57 (2731) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - SEP 9, 2017
On tap at Monk's Cafe in Philadelphia. OK, I have been chasing this brew for years! Finally, caught up to it at Monk's in Philly, my favorite beer bar of all time. Brassy gold pour. Smallish, creamy beige head. Sweet, citrus hop nose. Dank, citrusy hop notes out of the gate. I'm juiced! Expecting a huge hop bomb of a DIPA, but no, this is a smooth, slick, approachable DIPA. Full of hop flavor, yet easy drinking and truly delicious. Thanks to my bride for letting me finally catch this brew on the night we celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary at Tinto. It was a short, brisk walk to Monk's on this special evening. She is a real trouper!!!! czlowiekmotyka (426) - Warsaw, POLAND - SEP 5, 2017
Hard to find any flaws. Really herbal - piny like aroma. Very smooth on the malty profile. A bit carbonated. Deadly drinkable. Bitterness level severe but cultural. Great beer (1 mth fresh). Gluepot (665) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 4, 2017
A classic but subtle DIPA. Fresh and zesty grapefruit and orange hops blended perfectly with soft, sweet malt. Extremely clean and refreshing finish. CardsFan25 (96) - - AUG 24, 2017
Incredible beer. Best IPA that I have had. Have to disclose that I have only been drinking IPAs for 6 months. Also important to note that Monks is amazing!

Late check in. 28 days old bottle. Oily for the style, no alcohol, unbelievably balanced, hopped enough. Tasty and drinkable. I’m glad I finally tried it. // 2 weeks old bottle a few months later. Clean, piney, grapefruity. Balanced as remembered. Nothing outstanding but simply very good. Marduk (8093) - Reval, ESTONIA - AUG 15, 2017
510ml bottle (RBESG Grand Tasting 2017). Pale golden color. Medium size, white head, stays. Sweet, caramel, citrus, fruity in aroma. Fruity, citrus, herbal, hops in taste. Soft bitterness. Dry herbal hops in aftertaste. Nothing is punch in the face. Quite opposite, shy and mellow. Alcohol is... what alcohol? Pleasant in mouth. Excellent brew. llkc (2606) - århus, DENMARK - AUG 12, 2017

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2017 On tap at Rogue Eastside, Portland. Clear, golden with a big head. Smells of pine and fresh grass. Taste and body mean business. Dry on the palate. Nice but it's reputation makes it difficult to live up to in these days of serious, juicy DIPAs. Rubin77 (2390) - Brussels / Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - AUG 7, 2017
F: not big, white, average retention.
