Dark brown body, medium pale brown head, streaky lacing. Nose is mellow roast, coffee, caramel, and chocolate. A light bitterness is hinted at. Flavor follows through with a similar balance of roasted malts, caramel, toffee, coffee, and bittersweet chocolate. Medium to full bodied. Moderate carbonation. Nice roasty-bitter finish.

High cocoa chocolate, mocha and slight blackberry beyond with pronounced US hop undercurrents. Hop-bitter, well roasted finish. Very nice.

On tap at Russian River. Poured a very dark brown, had a finger of head when I got it. Aroma of malts and mild coffee, had a lot more coffee and some bitter chocolate along with sweet mildly roasted malts when I drank it. Medium bodied, not too carbonated. Good solid beer but nothing special.
