A: The pour is a deep, dark brown color with a finger’s worth of tan foam. S: Great notes of coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate. There is a slight smokiness and even a touch of vanilla. T: The flavor is a bit more heavy on the coffee and roasted malt with less of a chocolate presence. The smokiness is there as well, but once again just provides a bit of complexity. There’s also a slight bitterness on the finish. M: The body is on the full side of medium with a moderate level of creamy carbonation. D: Quite a complex and delicious porter. I have been looking forward to trying this one for some time and it did not disappoint.

Tasting Notes from Fall 2000: Creamy, nice hop flavor going down. More of a stout than the norm, with a slight smoky aftertaste

"a basic but tastier than average porter. aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and smoke. chocolate malt and smoke in the flavor and finish. a touch thin, but not bad. quite smooth and highly drinkable. 2014-body better than remembered. Kicked the stout’s behind."

LCBS 2010. What a standout porter. Holy shit. Brown pour, tan head. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Flavor is so smooth. Chocolate, dark fruits, roasted malt. Helluva porter. RR just kicks ass. End of story.
