On tap at Russian River 4th Street Porter at City Beer. Great roasty aroma with coffee and chocolate, mild molasses. Light bitter hop smell - neutral. Mainly just a warm roasty smell. Dark dark brown clear with a little black, thin off-white lacing head. Medium bodied with medium-high carbonation. Starts with coffee and chocolate, roasted barley and nice grain notes. Molasses and some brown sugar. Mild hop finish with nutty coffee and bittersweet chocolate. After is nutty and sweet with light tang. DeadGirl (478) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 31, 2010
On draft at Russian River Brewing (Santa Rosa, CA): Pours out a transparent medium brown/garnet red, topped off with an off-white fluffy head. Nose of dark cocoa bits, pine hops, roasted bready malts, and lightly toasted grain. Moderate carbonation. Medium-bodied. Rich flavors of dark toffee, ripe fruit notes, and creamed coffee. Cream and light bitter notes share the stage for a smooth finish. Drinkability: A classic porter that’s extremely easy to drink. Pairing: Smoked ham, BBQ prime rib. Rebuy: Yes. #354 on 31032010, DG.

Black, quarter-inch head. Good lacing. Roasted malt, chocolate. Medium bodied, a little too carbonated at first, but softens with time. Pretty dry, needs a little more sweetness to balance. Still pretty enjoyable. sistinas (108) - Mountain View, California, USA - AUG 28, 2012
On tap at Russian River. Poured a very dark brown, had a finger of head when I got it. Aroma of malts and mild coffee, had a lot more coffee and some bitter chocolate along with sweet mildly roasted malts when I drank it. Medium bodied, not too carbonated. Good solid beer but nothing special. OldGrowth (3665) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - MAY 20, 2014

On tap at the RR Brewpub in Santa Rosa.
A: dak brown, nearly opaque but clear. Somewhat weak head still leaves very good lacing.
Aroma: as expected for style: a role model.
Flavor: refined dark roastd malts; fine London style porter
Feel: smooth; medium body; medium-low carbonation.
O: unremarkable excepting the high quality. AirForceHops (8033) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 17, 2014
Draft @ Russian River. Thick foamy tan head chillin on top a dark brown/black liquid. The aroma and flavor run hand-in-hand. Burnt coffee grounds, barely, dry roast with a hint of bitter chocolate to even out the sweetness. The body and texture is real nice for a standard porter. Borderline full with a slight creamy, smoothness.
