Six malts and four hops go into this tasty dark ale. Hints of toffee, caramel, and chocolate are evident from aroma to finish in this approachable robust porter. 1.059 O.G / 40 BUs

On tap and on Cask, cask was a step above the keg version. Dark coco malt coffee. Richness to it. Top porter I’ve ever had. Great complex mid palate and nice finish. Texture was of course amazing as the cask conditioning really made this stand out. Keg version missed some of that but had all the complex aroma and mouth filling joyness. Really enjoyed this beer.

A: The pour is a deep, dark brown color with a finger’s worth of tan foam. S: Great notes of coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate. There is a slight smokiness and even a touch of vanilla. T: The flavor is a bit more heavy on the coffee and roasted malt with less of a chocolate presence. The smokiness is there as well, but once again just provides a bit of complexity. There’s also a slight bitterness on the finish. M: The body is on the full side of medium with a moderate level of creamy carbonation. D: Quite a complex and delicious porter. I have been looking forward to trying this one for some time and it did not disappoint.

Might be one of the best beers i’ve ever had, i’d quite possibly punch my mom for another drank. Without question the best porter I have ever had. Amazing balance of bitter, body, hints of roast, tons of chocolate, backnotes of coffee. simply perfect.

A - Served a dark brown black with a bit of red coming through around the edges and a finger of frothy chocolate head atop. Head fades at a normal pace leaving some nice lacing behind. S - Aroma is full of roasted caramel malts and coffee. Touch of chocolate as well with a bit of earthy hop. T - Starts off with a mix of some roasted sweet caramel malt and a touch of coffee flavor. Through the middle some chocolate malt and a touch of earthy hop comes through. Finish is a mix of lots of roasted malts with a bit of chocolate and coffee lingering. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Very smooth with a toasty and dry mouthfeel. D - Very drinkable. Really nicely balanced and smooth porter. The flavors are a good mix of rich and very sessionable.

Aroma: rich chocolate, roast malts, coffee, caramel. Pours black, tan head with decent retention and excellent lacing. Smooth chocolate and roast flavors, mellow coffee, toffee, pleasant background sweetness, excellent balance. Medium body and carbonation, silky mouthfeel, excellent. Fantastic brew.

On tap at Russian River Brewery - Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. A brown-black pour with a non-lasting tan head and abundant lacing. The taste is rich and robust. Dark roasted malts, lactose, chocolate, and hints of coffee. Wonderful! Medium-full body and medium carbonation. Overall, an excellent robust porter. I may move to CA.

Easily my favorite regular tap beer at Russian River. The body was black with a tan colored head. The aroma was light coffee with some sweet pancakes. The taste was strong coffee with some dark chocolate. There was also some licorice and raisins.

Hand bottle courtesy of Iowaherkeye – thanks Joey! Pours a dark reddish brown with a 2 finger tan head that leaves very nice lacing. Joey must be the master hand bottler, as I’ve had this for awhile and it’s still perfect! The nose is chocolate and cocoa with some toasted malt in the background. The taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee with some pine hops in the finish. Medium-to-full creamy mouthfeel. Very nice porter – thanks again Joey!
