Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 6, 2011
Batch 008. Enjoyed from a 13oz bottle in a chalice. The beer pours a moderately hazy straw-colored yellow, with a moderate white head. The nose shows characters of very light lemon, the Chimay yeast strains characteristic ester profile, and a very slight note of tartness. Malt or hops do not seem to come through in any meaningful manner. The flavor profile is truly illustrative of the seemingly boundless skill of the brewer, showing a level of depth and refinement seen in no other similar beers or examples of the style. Lemon zest; slight grain notes, perhaps from pilsner malt; and ester-derived complexity that almost indicates the addition of a wild yeast strain, in addition to the aforesaid culture. The finish is nicely dry and crisp. Overall, perhaps the benchmark of the Belgian Pale Ale style, and an absolutely excellent effort.

Tap at the brewpub. More Belgian than the others, with that yeastiness and a more candy-like sweetness, and also more of it. Great drinkability again. Later bitterness, but it works nicely.

Draught @ Russian River Brewing, Santa Rosa, California (20.04.2016)
Belgian-inspired Single- 4,8% alk. 12 BLG
Nic szczeglnego.
