4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 15, 2010 Draft at Memphis Taproom in Philly. Clear amber/orange color with a medium head. Aroma of intense tropical fruit and citrus; mango, tangerine, apricot and a little peach. Taste was dry with prickly hops bitterness and a little biscuity malt. Reminds me of a drier and fresher version of Sculpin.
Pours a slightly cloudy golden yellow with some that leaves lacing. Nose is citrus hops, first sip is little malt with a licorice flavors. Another nice IPA from Vinnie orangesol (1022) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 13, 2011

A - Pours light orange, with good clarity, with a strong one finger head leaving minimal lacing down the glass. Quite the unassuming pour.
S - The nose is just awesome. Bright pine and citrus hops dominate the nose and are ever present. The pungency and bitterness of the nose reminds me most of blind pig. As it warms up, the floral character of the hops just continues to grow and grow. Not as floral as elder but the nose is still a great expression of hops.
T - Starts out with a big, spicy, piney, citrusy hop bite. The strong citrus hops never really leave this one. Some sweetness in the middle from the malt but not as overpowering as some DIPA’s. Finish has a touch of alcohol with a light, lingering, hop bitterness. Not as good as either of the pliny’s or maybe even blind pig but still one of the best IPA’s I have had in quite some time.
M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Finish is bitter but not to the point of being overpowering. Very nice feel.
O - One of the best. I had two because it was just so good. I have had almost all of the russian river IPA’s on the market right now and this was one of the best I have had. I still like younger more but this is strongly in that second group.
Pours clear canary with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is huge grapefruit, honeydew, tangerine. Tastes citric, with tangerine, honeydew, florals, resiny hos, and some late dryness.Medium palate heft. BMan1113VR (7929) - Los Angeles, California, USA - DEC 16, 2010
Pours with a clear golden body and a white head that stays for a little while. Aroma is intense orange and spicy hops, some tropical and stone fruits and over all herbaceous and dank! Flavor is hoppy and herbal, a light caramel and biscuit undertone. Tropical fruit and stone fruit abound. Medium carbonation with a dry finish. Well done. Big thanks to Alex for this; what an absolutely amazing surprise.
A: Pours a slightly caramelized golden color with a nice white head and good lacing.
S: Quite a few hops packed in here with some nice citrus rind notes.
T: Note nearly as intense as the nose and with a bit more sweetness, although much of the sweetness seems to be perceived based on some of the fruity flavors imparted by the hops.
M: Nice amount of bitterness on a medium body. Good hop flavor to bitterness balance.
D: Very tasty all around. Never thought I’d get to try this unless it was made again. Thanks again, Alex.

Draft at Triumph Old City on 6/11/10. Pours yellow amber, topped with a medium-sized off white head. Really enticing citrus aroma, with notes of orange and grapefruit up front, and mild caramel in the background. The flavor was significantly more bitter than the aroma, but still not as over the top as in RR’s other big IPAs. Resinous, grapefruity hops cling to the palate, with just a bit of caramel to temper the bitterness. Medium bodied and fairly drinkable. I’m not a huge hophead, and this was right up my alley. bu11zeye (13215) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - OCT 14, 2010
Pours a clear yellow body with a medium white head. Aroma of peach, pineapple, grass, and pine. Flavor of pineapple, pine, peach, passion fruit, herbs, and caramel malt with a bitter finish. Excellent. checkmatei1 (783) - Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 14, 2010
Draft @ Monks (backlog from June): Poured an amber color with a thin white head. The aroma was grapefruit, pine, and cut grass. The flavor was citrus, pine, bitter hops, and a smooth finish. Overall, a tad bitter for me but smooth. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 2, 2010
(Handbottle via trade with Josh) clear yellow-orange with soapy bubbles. Nose of orange, huge citrus, spicy, cream, and rye. Taste of spicy orange, candied citrus fruits, grapefruit, very drinkable. Excellent linger. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - SEP 1, 2010
Big thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this hand bottle.
The beer pours a standard yellow color with a white head. The aroma is awesome. I get notes of mango, pineapple and pine. This is what an IPA is supposed to smell like. The flavor is just as good. I get a lot of pineapple, orange and mangos, with some piney hops mixed in. The beer is fairly bitter but is not overpowering. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. An awesome beer.
