COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Whos afraid of the "big bad BRETT?" Well tell you who: winemakers! Because of our close proximity to several hundred wineries, we often get winemakers visiting our brewery. (After all, it takes a lot of great beer to make great wine!) Because we use 100% Brettanomyces yeast to ferment Sanctification, most winemakers will only smell the glass, and only a very few will venture to taste the beer. They think the Brettanomyces will attach to their clothing and end up in their winery. A simple solution was offered: keep a smudge pot burning at the door of our brewery so they can burn their clothes when exiting, but even that was not enough. After giving it more thought, we concluded that winemakers think Brettanomyces might scar their taste buds and possible even permeate their skin? Either way, Sanctification is one of the most unique beers you will ever taste! It was fermented with 100% Brettanomyces, rather than the traditional Saccharomyces.

[bottle, shared with DarkMagus] Pours a hazy orange/yellow color, with a thick layer of dense foam. Aroma is loads of bacteria and funk. Musty brett flavors really dominate, but also provide some really nice, strong pineapple/mango fruit esters. Finishes extremely dry, making you crave another sip. Overall, this beer is wonderful. Definitely a memorable experience.

From tap at Russian River, Santa Rosa. Aroma is Bretty barnyard funk with tart fruits, citrussy lemon, a touch of stone fruit including apricot. Flavour is a nice medium sour. Body is medium. Its like a light Gueuze, could use some age.

Brought back from the brewery in Santa Rosa by my son - thanks! Hazy, light golden pour, not much of a head to speak of. Pleasant sour aroma, some Parmesan cheese. some apricot sourness. . Flavor is tart with some wood accents, some sourness - cherries come to mind. Solid spritz to the mouthfeel. Excellent sour to savor!

Poured into a tulip from bottle, bottled 7/26/16. Cloudy golden yellow, with a medium white head that quickly dissipated. Nose is all funk, a bit on the bready side, over ripe citrus notes. Taste is mostly tart citrus, with that sharp sour finish. Very nice.

From tap at the brewery. Unclear yellow golden color with of white head. Malty and yeasty aroma, funky, grassy, floral, citrusy fruity, wood, vinous. Sweet, acidic and light bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2017 Tap at the brewpub. Pours cloudy pale yellow. Aroma is citric, with an apple cidre touch. Body is light, with a dominant sourness, yet still in balance. Hints of vinegar. Palate continues the beauty. Very nice.
