@Quintessence - quite clear black beer with a little persistent foam; very roasted aroma of ashes, woody with notes of rum and mocha; full-bodied, tasty and fairly bitter, assertive, very dry finish with long roasted chocolatey and woody notes, hints of vanilla and chestnuts - huge and complex, absolutely great stuff ! daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - NOV 17, 2013
GABF. Dark brown pour, brown head. Really nice beer! Roasty and some smoke. The smoke isn’t over the top at all. Molasses, raisins, dark bread. Damn fine brew. slowrunner77 (12051) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 9, 2014
"Very dark brown, mocha head. Great aroma of roasted chocolate malt, light smoke. Body is robust but smooth, showing very little of the nearly 10%. Flavor is dry, chocolate roast and coffee, light hops and smoke. A very well put together beer. Will try the bottle soon :)" ads135 (4607) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - OCT 10, 2014
A really nice imperial porter. Dark, rich, and roasty. A lot of chocolate and less coffee. Picked up in SF in 2014.

On tap at the brewery in Santa Rosa, CA. Pours a dark brown with a good sized head. Nice creamy mouth feel with chocolate and coffee being the main flavors. I knew it was going to be good, but it exceeded expectations.

500 ml. bottle sampled @ Cantillon Quintessence 2014. Dark mahogany with little mocha head. Nose is very grainy and powder like, lots of cacao and mocha powder with some light soy sauce. Very grainy taste and feel, coffee, cocao, mocha, chocolate, soy sauce, liquorish, grainy roast. Satisfactory porter for sure.
