Pours a hazy, dark brownish ruby color with a half finger head that dissipates very slowly and leaves a blanket of lacing. Tons of sediment, but that is expected with the amount of yeast added. Smells of funky, sour cherries, oak, vinegar, grapes, lots of funkiness. Lots of dryness that really does give it a wine-like smell. Smells almost like a cherry warhead. Taste starts with a very astringent, dry, sour cherry flavor, as well as some oak and funkiness. Then get some of the brown ale qualities: slight breadiness, maybe some cocoa (but i could just be imagining that), some carmel malt. Then the astringent sour notes from the brett and bacteria come back even stronger, along with lots more cherry, grape, funkiness, vinegar, oak, some carmel. Extremely dry finish that blends the wine and the beer qualities nicely. So sour, yet extremely balanced. High medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Very lively carbonation from the refermentation that does give it a very champagne-like crisp finish. Very complex and so delicious. Just getting into this style, but I have a feeling I wont come across many sours better than this one. Hope to try this again someday.

Red. Sour. Really polished. Cherries. Kinda reminds me of a tart apples plus cherry soda.

Sours are still a bit of a mystery to me. Its hard to describe all I perceive; taste, smell etc... All I can say is this is very enjoyable to drink.

For all of the characteristically funky bacteria and yeast strains that went into this brew, Supplication is almost unfathomable in how easy it is to drink. Deep reddish brown color. Notes of oak, cherry, earth, and vinous green grape. Bone dry finish. This beer certainly has tartness, but its not bracing. The fruit notes are vibrant, the biota are muted, and the balance is cohesive. Its nothing short of amazing that a beer this wild can be this smooth.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2017 Tap at the brewpub. Pours almost clear amber. Aroma is barrel, fruit, wine, candy. Body is medium, but strongly sour with traces of sweet fruit. Actually rather dry. I remember this was the first sour beer ever that I liked, and now I remember why. Great beer.

Bottle. A- Oak, cherry, mild funk, red wine, complex. A- Brown red color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Cherry, woodsy, slightly herbal, dark grapes, wine, complex. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, complex finish. O- Outstanding. Certainly lives up to the hype. Not a huge amount of funkiness to it. A complex blend of cherries, oak, and array of other complex notes. Well done.

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2017 Tap@ deep copper opaque, with off-white long lasting foamy head. Aroma: toffee, chocolate, vineyard, different grapes, leather...flavor is intense, complex, with toasted toffee supported with fruity notes of grapes, some vine, vanillin, hint of leather, funk...finish is dry, astringent sourish. Body is medium, texture soft, carbonation is medium.

Pours orange-tinged ruby into a tulip. Bright white head with good retention recedes to coat surface. Cherry funk and grass aromas. Dry with pinot, oak and cherry upfront turning to lacto, brett and marshmallow before turning to tart oak in the lasting finish.

On tap at RR and bottles later. Pours a red mahogany with a one inch off-white head. Aroma is sour cherries, raisins, plums. Taste is sour cherries up front with a hint of the pinot barrels, but with a nice malty sweet backbone to tone down the sourness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with the perfect amount of carbonation. This one is hard to find, but worth the hunt for one of the best American sours. World Class.
