Bottle from the RR store. Thanks. I have wanted to try this one for a really long time, for a few reasons: one - its from Russian River, and two - its a sour ale aged in red wine barrels. Plus the added bonus of some cherries! Pours a dark brown color with a thick yellow head that disappears as quickly as it forms. The smell is sour cherries, some red wine notes, but mostly it smells like you chopped open an oak tree and smell into the middle of it. Fantastic smell. Taste is full of sour and oak notes, with a little bit of cherries but mostly it is dominated by the pinot barrel flavor. Very light and easy to drink, this is really good stuff.

Aroma - sour, tart, must, and alcohol. Appearance - body is a hazy coppery brown. Head is off-white and 1 1/2" and settles in a sudsy film. Body clouds with swirl in. Taste - sour, tart, dry cherry, oaky, vinuous, and slight must. Palate - body is medium, texture is vinous, carbonation is approaching lively, finish is vinuous, slightly sour - mostly tart.

Medium to high bitterness. Great balance. Cherries, wine, funk, very complex, very drinkable.

Aromat średnio-intensywny, dzikie aromaty (siano, koń) mieszają się z czereśniami, wiśniami słodką wanilią. W smaku wyraźnie kwaśne (mlekowo, bez octu), pojawia się przyjemna słodycz owocowa (wiśnie), finisz lekko cierpki, suszone drewno. Bardzo fajnie zbalansowane i bogate.

Bottle share for Sholl. Slightly cloudy brown, light white head. Strong cherry nose, quite a lot of funk. Tart, slight sweetness. A bit oily. Long finish. Great.

Fantastic. Right there with the best sours and beers in general I have had. Per price there is better though.

Taster at brewery. And I thought Consecration was the bomb. Wow! Not a sour guy, but this could turn me. Deep golden hue, soft foamy head. Aroma is soft and fruity. Taste brings the Brett, gently. Sweet and tart, like the candy. Hits it on all levels.

From Jul 2008 I got this bottle of batch 00s thanks to a trade with Tayner. Thanks Dana! It pours a hazy peach colour with a 1" head of foam. There's some good lacing and foam is shrinking but looks like some of it will be around at the end of the session. Ok, the foam did leave the scene entirely but, what the hell.. The smell is just what I like to find in American Wild Ales...huge sour notes from cherries and lemons. Also a big yeasty profile with some vanilla and oak. Super nice nose. The taste is as good if not better than the nose. Wow. Big oaky and yeasty notes with some yeasty tones and big fruity tartness from lemons, apricots, and cherries. There's also an underlying sweetness coming from vanilla. And did I mention the funk? No? My bad. The Brett is definitely present here working its magic, intertwining with all the other luscious flavours. and bringing real justice to the style. Marvelous, simply marvelous. The mouthfeel is medium, the carbonation is brisk but fits this ale so well, and it finishes with that sour cherry tartness that just demands that I take another sip tout suite. Eminently drinkable for me, to say the least. This is a world class brew in my book and thanks go out again to Dana for sending this my way!

Tap at Pizza Port OB. Pours clear rose. Aroma and flavor are cherries, wheat, oak, mixed culture, tannins, and soft acidity. Light body.
