COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Is it beer, or is it wine? "Aged in French oak wine barrels for twelve months with distinct characteristics of fruit and subtle oak" sounds more like a description of wine than beer. But, of course, Temptation is indeed beer. Actually, Temptation is a Blonde Ale Fermented with a special strain of yeast, then aged in French oak chardonnay barrels. Flavors of wine and oak absorb into the brew throughout twelve months of aging. During this aging process, a secondary fermentation occurs using a yeast strain disliked by most brewers and winemakers called Brettanomyces. The "Bret" gives Temptation intriguing characteristics and a pleasant sourness. Temptation is re-fermented in the bottle to create its carbonation--a process commonly used to make fine champagne and sparkling wine. Spent yeast forms a thin layer of sediment to remain in the bottle.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2013 Bottle: Thanks Steve: Vintage 2010: Medium to smaller sized white to off white head on top of a clear yellow colored beer. Smell brett, wild yeast, ash, fruits like apricot, sulphur, cellar and a nice wet stone. Taste is good and pretty complex mix of: good tart with some hints of yeast, chalk, grapes, berries, cellar, apricot, wet stone, wild yeast. Aftertaste is light tart with some grains and yeast. Low carbo, watery light creamy mouthfeel, good medium to lightly fuller body and a light creamy texture. Quite 1 dimensional, but still good enough!

Bottle into a wineglass showing moderately filtered neon yellow with quickly dissipating foam lacing. The nose shows clean chardonnay - lemon meringue, light citrus. The palate is well carbonated and light bodied. Lightly tart with light citric zest around the edges. Light white wine bitterness on the finish.
