On tap at the Toronado. Very woody aroma, some syrupy malts. Moderately fruity, acidic twang, medicinal. Flavor is moderately sour, more oakiness, some esters. Lightly bitter, appealing finish. From a 750mL Bottle. Shared by Dr. Bill. Slightly hazy, pale ruddy amber pour with a thin layer of wispy off-white head. Aromas of mildly tart apple skins and oaky vanilla greets the nose up front. Deeper contemplation reveals notes of earthy herbal moss and floral lavender petals. Light acidity and mild funk; alcohol noticeable as well, but restrained. Medium bodied, mildly carbonated mouthfeel. Could use a bit more carbonation to help highlight the acidic brightness of the beer. Then again, that might be an inevitable difficulty with a beer this big. A wave of moderately acidic chardonnay grapes on the front of the palate, followed by red cherry pits, oaky dryness, and a hint of cheese rind. A touch of black pepper spice and herbal dandelion stems round out the finish. It’s tasty, but could use a livelier carbonation, more acidity, and less herbal bitterness. Draft.Copper/bronze beer with an off-white head. Malty, tart, berry, cherry, fruit, oak aroma - it’s good here. Berry/tart/malt/oak flavor with light aciditiy. medium body. Lingering tart/oak, berry, fruit. The 50/50 is much better and the fan boys are going to go crazy over this. It’s good, but it’s not one of the best. Tap. Pours with a brown color. Lots of sourness in th aroma, together with some caramel. Very tart actually sour finish, borderline for me. Hints of vinegar, maybe a bit of oak and caramel.

750ml from brewpub, they only had draft at the preparty Thursday night; Nose of apples, caramel, tart brettiness, woodiness with a hint of wine barrels, and vanilla and spice notes; Rusty copper color, with a light haze of yeast with a medium beige head; flavor shouts oak, caramel, tartness, and dark berries; mouthfeel is tingly bubbles with a light tart finish. Apricot-brown color. Sizable frothy head. Sweet woody aroma. Flavor is sour and very effervescent (tastes like a cider to me). Tingly and very good at masking the alcohol. I’m probably not qualified to judge this style; I’m a straight IPA/IIPA guy and I really struggled to rate this one as if I dig this stlye of brew. On tap at Toronado 20th b’day party. This dark amber ale poured with a thin beige head. This is a delightfully sour brew with a tingly carbonated mouthfeel.
