Lots of spruce in the nose but not to be overbearing. Dark amber body with more spruce in the mouth along with grapefruit hoppieness and a little caramel. More carmel in the finish along with some alcohol burn. Creamy and balanced. DaSilky1 (2606) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 11, 2003
cloudy dark orange melting to amber..interesting halo and lacing..hoppy medicine aroma..IPAishness all over this momma..spicy & sweet hop profile..very spicy sweet i must say..and a tad piney with some chewy fruits thrown in to the mix.. This one menaced a dark amber to copper hue with a minimal but apparent white head with a fairly decent lacing that lasted here and there. The aroma is very spruce like...deep piney, christmasy like aromas, decent hoppy citrusy notes, a good palate awakening. Very dry citrusy ending with a profound bitterness followed up with a transition to a mildly malty base. The carbonation here is fairly heavy and attacks the tongue with sticking pineyness and bitterness...a bit rogue for us dark lovers, but not bad. joet (2648) - Wilsonville, Oregon, USA - MAR 11, 2002
Golden brown, tang, some alcohol taste although it's only 6.5%. Big hops at 60 IBUs. Very solid and substantial medium body.
