Bottle (@Pivni Galerie, Praha- Holesovice): Very dark, almost black with a thin beige-brownish head; dry aroma: mainly roast-malty, some caramel and molasses; dry bitter and a bit fruity flavour, quite light bodied; lingering bitter (chocolate) finish, but also fruity notes (citrus) detectable; not sweet at all. More a Schwarzbier than a Dunkel; refreshing and well balanced........ Ungstrup (37284) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUL 17, 2005
A brown beer with a small brown head. The aroma is sweet malty and slight hints of toffee. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of roasted malt, but again some toffee. JorisPPattyn (9927) - Ursel, BELGIUM - JUN 12, 2005
Very fine & dense brownish head, creamy & leaving lace; beautiful dark-chestnut beer. Roasted barley & malts; bit of dark candi sugar in the nose. Again roasted malt, barley & coffee. Quite dry but quite thin as well. It’s not a stout, OK, but even for a Dunkel it’s thin. Slightly smoked. As said, thin. Bit velvety MF. IT’s OK - I suppose it makes a great session beer, rather than a tastign-supping sensation. Hildigöltur (5104) - Křbenhavn, DENMARK - APR 26, 2005
Bottled. Dark brown coloured. Malty aroma with notes of apple. Very sweet and malty flavour, again apple notes. Slightly thin. DanielBrown (4500) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - APR 5, 2005
Bottle from the Criterion, Leicester. Nice dark Dunkel with a creamy, beige head. A creamy choc flavour, mixed with water and a few specks of metal. Smooth, and actually a little Porterish. A drinkable session beer, which is clean and balanced, without being a taste sensation.
rauchbier (3880) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - NOV 7, 2004
Bottle, GBBF 2004. Deep chestnut, thin off white head and gentle condition. Roast barley and a sweet butteriness in the aroma, low sweet caramel and gentle Roastiness in the mouth and some lingering fruity raisin notes in the finish.

Bottle. Mollasses and toast, lightly syrupy texture, but nice flavour, finished a little bit salty, which was surprising. BIt of caramel. Subtle, but nice. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - OCT 9, 2004
Bottled - Bedford Beer Festival. A malty nutty aroma with a bit of butterscotch. Typical dark brown dunkel coloured. Good nutty caramel and smooth fruits in the taste. Good body and very moreish. I tended to cuddle this glass and not give the others much of a go if my memory serves me right. Joeh (2049) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - OCT 6, 2004

Very dark brown color. Coffee, caramel and brown sugar aroma. Coffee, caramel and roasted malt in the flavor. Rubber aftertaste. Maybe a bit on the thin side, but still a very nice beer, though not perfect.
