Clear dark red brown color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark roasted, light brown sugar, licorice notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily and smooth, carbonation is soft.
A brown beer with a small brown head. The aroma is sweet malty and slight hints of toffee. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of roasted malt, but again some toffee. omhper (25750) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - APR 7, 2002
Near black in colour with rich head. Coffee aroma. Medium bodied, slightly roasty, rather dry, creamy. Medium bitterness. An excellent tmavý. chriso (21656) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 15, 2004
UPDATED: NOV 7, 2004 Dark brown colour. Aroma is mildly malty, but quite restrained. Noticeably hoppy flavour. Clean and crisp. Pretty good. Bottled at GBBF 2004. (6/4/7/3/13). RE-RATE. Bottled at Bedford Beer Festival. I don’t know whethere this was from a different batch, but I certainly noticed more licorice & treacle, some nutty notes and a more filling mouthfeel than previously. Bumped it up a couple of notches.

Amber with a nice offwhite head. Very nice toffee aroma, malty, creamy and with some vanilla. Malty, milky flavor, quite sweet and not with that much hops in it. Quite mild finish.

Tap @ Zly Casy, Prague. Comes as Rychtar malvaz tmavy lezak. Pours dark brown nearly black with a full creamy white head and lacings. Dry roasted and fruity nose. Taste is roast and caramel with hints of coffee and liquorice. Smooth and creamy. Very nice! MiP (15973) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JUL 12, 2009
Bottle, 4.5%. Creamy aroma, quite roasted, some coffee. Clear dark brown colour. The flavour is nicely roasted with some barley bitterness resembling that of a stout. This is quite mild, though, but very flavourful. bierkoning (13689) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - SEP 20, 2004
Very dark brown color. Coffee, caramel and brown sugar aroma. Coffee, caramel and roasted malt in the flavor. Rubber aftertaste. Maybe a bit on the thin side, but still a very nice beer, though not perfect. gnoff (10985) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAR 24, 2007

Tried as Bogesund 1520 Svart Lager, imported by Pilsnergubbarna AB.
Clear dark red brown color, small tan head. Very skunky cheesy scent, oxidized most likely, also sweaty. Thin roasted and metallic taste. Roasted aftertaste. Thin mouthfeel, low bitterness.
Bottle (@Pivni Galerie, Praha- Holesovice): Very dark, almost black with a thin beige-brownish head; dry aroma: mainly roast-malty, some caramel and molasses; dry bitter and a bit fruity flavour, quite light bodied; lingering bitter (chocolate) finish, but also fruity notes (citrus) detectable; not sweet at all. More a Schwarzbier than a Dunkel; refreshing and well balanced........
