Bottled from a supermarket in Albufeira, Portugal. Black appearance, very small brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, hint of coffee and liquorice. Malty and dry flavor, liquorice, somewhat bitter finish. Quite thin mouthfeel. Feels like a ’light’ version of a schwarzbier.

0.33 l bottle from ’Bier & Beer’ at 4.1% abv, best before August 2017. Clear, dark red to black with a large, foamy, dense, stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and some toasted nuts. Moderately sweet, malty, rather roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and some toasted nuts, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter, a little metallic finish. Almost medium-bodied, slightly fairly effervescent mouthfeel, almost lively carbonation. Decent stuff, better than expected!

Bottle. Dark Brown in colour; Ruby in light. Malty; roasty malts, caramel, coffee, hint of chocolate, liquorice. Slightly smokey. Sweet roast malty leading to a dry mildly bitter finish. Quite tasty for low ABV. Better than I expected. (2009-06)
