This copper beer has a toasty aroma and a complex flavour of fruit and roasted malt with some smokiness with a bit of a boozy kick in the finish. This is my first Dunkel style beer and I was rather impressed. renffisch (891) - london, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 9, 2008

33cl bottle from Sainsburys. Dark brown body with a short lasting off-white head; malt and fruit aromas; sotout-like chocolate and coffee flavours; burnt toast finish. RobBestwick (963) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 1, 2007
Roasted coffee and nutty aroma. Pours with a very dark brown hue and off white head. Roasted coffee, toffee and nutty flavour with some faint woody notes. Very malty finish. Good stuff. RichardGretton (4784) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2006
Bottle. Reddish black beer with a light head. The aroma is slightly smokey and coffee based, and the flavour is lightly bitter and roasted. Overall a nice smokey and dry beer.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2007 Much better cool than cold. Dark chocolate brown pour with stouty creamy beige head. Nice malty chocolate/liquorice flavours, soft on palate. Still not sure if I like this style as without the stout mouthfeel the flavours feel somehow ’wrong’, but enjoyable anyway, and actually very palatable served cool rather than lager-cold. 330ml bottle from Sainsbury’s. Reddish/brown, perfectly clear with a medium/thin off-white head. Slight hint of roasted malt in the sweetish malty aroma. Smooth and slightly sweet at first there’s a bitter, malty finish. Not bad, I’ll give it another go. johndoughty (5538) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - JAN 28, 2007
Brown with no carbonation and pored very flat.Quite smooth with a slightly smokey sharpness. Some maltiness as well. Reasonably complex and quite refreshing. pretz (3) - ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2007 does not count
Different to what I’d expected from a dark lager. The colour is very dark with little carbonation, almost coca-colaish in appearance.
Very complex taste, similar to coffee or dark chocolate. Enjoyed this quite a bit, although it is not what I’d expected! Another example of a good beer from this sainsbury’s range, I really liked their wheat beer that they don’t seem to do anymore. 330ml bottle from Sainsbury’s. Pours a drak reddy/brown colour with good sized off white head. Very interesting and tasty beer some pleasant soft maltiness but with fruit and hints of a bitter dark chocolateness. Really enjoyed this.
