UPDATED: DEC 8, 2008 Dark amber with big foamy head. Unique malty aroma...I didn’t find it stale, but rather estery malt, like buttered biscuits. Flavor is dominated by malt, with a hint of banana/ester fruitiness and some unique "spice". Herbal hops are very mild, and the aftertaste is smooth and malty. A retasting of the draft version (2008 batch) makes me rate the palate higher as it is very nice and smooth. The flavor and overall impression are also much higher. I was quite impressed. aenimopiate (176) - The United States of Texas, Texas, USA - DEC 14, 2007
Smells like apple juice(very mouthwatering), has a beautiful dark coppery color, and tastes of dark fruits and spices. Overall a pretty yummy seasonal beer from the people down in Houston. thorrocks (1) - , Texas, USA - DEC 14, 2008 does not count
A wonderful seasonal ale that I wait all year for. Goes great with the Elisa DewBrewer (295) - Austin, Texas, USA - NOV 13, 2009
On cask at the Dig Pub in Cedar Park. Nice big malt bomb! Just a bit of carbonation but it goes down way too easy given the ABV. Reminded me of cask ale in London. Yum. nuplastikk (6256) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 2, 2011
12oz shorty bottle. Orange-tan with a thin, creamy off-white head. This is quite different than your typical US XMAS beer in that it is quite drinkable and sessionable, Still displays some fruitcake spice characteristics, but the malts are clean and smooth. This is really well done, I look forward to trying more beers from Saint Arnold. Medium bodied despite the rather big ABV. Smooth sweet finish, mild mead characteristics, but in no way overbearing. Awesome beer.

Bottle. Pours deep clear red with a thin tan head and lots of carbonation. Has a malty sweet taste, a medium mouthfeel and a spicy finish. Pretty good. southernolkart (55) - - NOV 15, 2012
A greatly forward winter ale. Nice sweet malty flavor with a hint of spicy hops. Favorite Chris's ale so far this year.

Just picked up a sixer from the Christmas in July release.
Pours a light head - about 1/2 finger.
Smell is subtle - spicy , some clean hops.
Taste. nice and slippery in the mouth. I can taste the spice (nutmeg?).
Wonderful moutfeel. just the right amount of carbonation.
Drinkability. This beer is dangerous. Extremely easy drinking for an 8% abv.
Quite an interesting beer to drink in the summertime -- when it’s 105 outside. A nice break from the hop monsters that I usually crave in the summer.
