This is the same beer as Divine Reserve No. 5. It was re-released as DR 15 on Jan. 26, 2015.

This Divine Reserve was inspired by the winning entry of the 2007 Big Batch Brew Bash homebrew competition, brewed by Mike Heniff, a highly decorated local Houston homebrewer. Russian Imperial Stouts are very big and very black and this one is no exception.

It was first brewed as DR5. DR15 has a rich malty body full of coffee and chocolate flavors and a spiciness derived from the combination hops and high alcohol. It was brewed with a variety of malts including 2 row pale, crystal, chocolate and roasted barley. It was hopped with Nugget, Willamette and Centennial. We used our Saint Arnold yeast to ferment it. It is unfiltered. Enjoy at 45°F or warmer with some dark chocolate or a bowl of vanilla ice cream.

DuffMan (10983) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 13, 2017
Bottle @ Avenue Pub in NOLA. Extremely dark brown, quite viscous, diminishing light brown head that disappears entirely within a few minutes. Heavy molasses, notes of bitter dark chocolate and licorice and coffee, some cola sweetness too. Not as good as I'd hoped, but decent enough.

12 oz bottle shared. Black appearance with a light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, coffee and espresso. Similar flavor, rich, smooth and moderately sweet with a mild roasty bitterness. Full body with a lingering bittersweet finish. Pretty nice, especially after it warms up a little.

Bottle thanks to Bill. Pours black with a tan head that lasts. Strong roasted coffee, smoke, caramel. Medium body. Astringent dry chalky finish.

Pours opaque chocolate with a decent light tan head. Aroma presents molasses, roast malt, mocha, and subtle caramel tones with a hint of anchovy. Flavor features roast malt, caramel, molasses, mocha and anchovy-ish tones for a very tasty stout. Mouthfeel offers good body and peppy fizz. Divine!

NYE bottle share. Brown/black pour, adequate beige head, kind of fluffy. Roast malts and chocolaty aroma. Taste follows on with some nice cocoa/chocolate flavors, a hint of smoke. Nice texture, creamy. Not overly boozy, but warming.

GothGargoyle (2588) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 31, 2016
Black with a beige head. Aroma is molasses, soy, chocolate, bourbon, dark fruits. Full bodied, lightly sticky mouthfeel, balanced on the palate with a hint of roast. Taste is chocolate, dark fruits, molasses, stale herbs.

Bottle - Vintage 2015 - Sweet dark fudgy notes with cocoa. Deep brown with a small beige head. Dark malts, cocoa and a touch of soy umami.

monk191 (2022) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 9, 2016
A good example of a high alcohol Russian imperial stout. Pours a deep black with a brown head. Smells of coffee, vanilla, dark fruit, and a bit of smokiness. Taste is very malty, with vanilla upfront, followed by chocolate and dark fruit, and a bit of booze and coffee at the finish. Good job. Had in the bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

kathouse (1942) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - APR 26, 2016
On cask. Long lasting foam with aromas of raisins and brown sugar. Wine, dark fruit and alcohol dominate the flavor profile. Finish is very pleasant.
