A true German-style Kölsch. Originally brewed in Cologne, this beer is crisp and refreshing, yet has a sweet malty body that is balanced by a complex, citrus hop character. Multiple additions of German Hallertauer hops are used to achieve this delicate flavor. We use a special Kölsch yeast, an ale yeast that ferments at lager temperatures, to yield the slightly fruity, clean flavor of this beer. Fancy Lawnmower Beer is a world class brew yet light enough to be enjoyed by Texans after strenuous activities, like mowing the lawn.

From bottle poured into pint glass. Clear, light golden color, with an initial thin white head that dissolves down to almost nothing. Very effervescent from the bottom of the glass. Yeasty and slightly floral aroma. Very smooth feel and is very drinkable. Very balanced taste between malts and hops. Grassy hop notes (probably why its called Lawnmower). Initial hopiness fades quickly but leaves a lingering bite. A great light summer beer that goes down easy and isn’t too heavy.

4 oz. pour, on tap at The Ginger Man in Austin, Texas. Consumed on 11-6-16. Clear, pale golden. Off-white head. Significant effervescence elevates an otherwise underwhelming appearance. Buttery, chardonnay-like, dry, lightly beery aroma. Weak smell. Bland taste. A bit fruity. Mineral or metallic. Perhaps a touch vegetal. Soft in the palate. Light body. Frothier than ideal. Brings little to the table.

Sampled in a flight with other Texas brews at a local establishment. The appearance is straw yellow with a slight head. Lawnmower definitely seems suited as a spring or summer drink. Very little smell, grassy (fitting don’t you think). The taste is slightly citrus along some hay. Quite light on flavor. Offered one in the future I will drink it.

Bottle. It poured a golden color with a white head. The aroma was of citrus, grains and malts. The taste was similar to the aroma with more citrus, malts and grains. Decent.

Bottle - Pours pale gold with white head. Aroma of hay, light toasted bread, flowers. Flavor of hay, lightly sweet malt, hints of lemon and a hops finish. Dry finish, too. Drinkable.

Draught at Ginger Man, Austin, TX, 25.4.2016. Clear gold with a white head. Crisp and malty aroma, grainy and on the sweeter side of things. Hardly any hops. Light-to-medium body, the slightest bitter finish but mostly grainy notes. Simple, refreshing, more blond ale than kolsch but still nice.

Pours clear golden yellow with a soapy bright white head. Smells slightly floral and slightly grainy. Taste is grassy and floral. Light-bodied with a wet texture and average mouth-carbonation, Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower Ale finishes crisp and fairly clean.
