Similar to a New Castle with a little bit less caramel flavor to it and a little bit of a smokey finish to the end. It is drinkable, which is what they were going for, but not interesting enough to buy again. harrymel (1551) - Spokane, Washington, USA - DEC 29, 2013
Ruddy dark brown on black with a central and rimmed etch character. Smells of soil, porter dust, some clean grain - a rather simple nose. Flavors of coffee ground, metal, nice roasty porter character over a sweet light malt base. No hop character, light astringency I get on kolsches. Light bodied with sharp, fun carb and a fairly dry finish. I generally like schwarzbier, and this is no excpetion, but is not that nice. sharkweek (119) - Statesboro, Georgia, USA - DEC 7, 2013
Nice enough appearance. It poured into my glass very dark with a finger or two of head. This one is very watery though. You can taste a bit of roastiness but not too much stands out. This is a nice refreshing beer, but it is not winning any awards. boto (2261) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - NOV 30, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 1, 2013 Draught @ Fat Grass: This one pours a clear, dark caramel color. There was a wisp of an off-white head on it that left no lacing. The aroma is a touch light but good. Light roastiness and chocolate, maybe some earthiness and toffee. The taste is good. A touch of malt sweetness. Some roasted malts, chocolate and graininess. Perhaps a touch of smokiness and a slightly dry finish. Nice. UncleKorm (1330) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - NOV 26, 2013
On tap, clear brown hue w/ medium beige head. Initial flavor is mild sweet w/ a faint tannin finish. Tastes are black tea, sugar, and bread. Light bodied and watery mouthfeel.

On tap at DFW. Pours a medium brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is malty and caramel. Flavor is slightly sweet and malty. Decent beer. Concealer (1260) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 25, 2013
Bottle. Clear reddish brown with a foamy beige head that lasts. Aromas of toasted malt, yeast, coco and caramel. Flavor is sweet caramel and toasted malt with a lingering fruit/coco. Light bodied, crisp. swanmann (776) - Nompton, Oklahoma, USA - NOV 17, 2013
I’s cola brown with slight red tones and a few quick bubbles. Aromas of toffee and a bit of smokiness. Flavor is some more toffee, roasty bitterness, touch of caramel sweetness and a mild funky sourness in the finish. The body’s fairly light. The bitterness lingers just a hair. It’s a lot like Shiner Bock but a touch lighter. kaser (6364) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 27, 2013
Brownish pour from tap at finnigans in New Orleans. No head. Coffee nutty malty notes. Carmel just ok kevinator (2445) - The Colony, Texas, USA - OCT 25, 2013
Surprisingly not bad. I would definitely agree more with the Schwarzbier classification than the black Kolsch label the brewery gives it. However, it does have a lighter palate than the former. Aroma was not strong but of roasted malt. Dark brown color with white foamy head like the Schwarz style. Lighter palate with decent carbonation. Actually, it was smooth and easy to drink with Mexican food, so their goal was achieved. Roasted malt and nut flavors with a full finish. Not much hops bitterness.
