Santo is a black Klsch, which technically doesnt exist as a style, but this is as close as we can come to describing it. Essentially it is brewed using a Klsch recipe with the addition of Munich and black malt. It is light bodied and floral yet with a distinct dark malt flavor. Our goal was to create a dark yet refreshing beer that would pair perfectly with a plate of enchiladas. The label artwork is by Houston artist Carlos Hernandez who is known for his Day of the Dead Rock Star series of paintings and prints.

Nice enough appearance. It poured into my glass very dark with a finger or two of head. This one is very watery though. You can taste a bit of roastiness but not too much stands out. This is a nice refreshing beer, but it is not winning any awards.

Can - Pours dark amber/brown, big head because I poured it that way. Aroma of slightly scorched pancakes, toffee. Flavors of dark roasted grain, hints of toffee, a bit of sweet malt, a pleasant bitter ending. For the style, it was just fine.

Pours dark copper, fleeting head, fizzy. Lots of caramel on the nose. Same on the tongue, some apple and tobacco too. Like a Shiner for grownups I guess.
