Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig, 2012, London. Pours clear, ruby-brown with a light, white foam head. Dark brown bread nose with faint filter coffee. Medium sweet flavor with light, toasty bread. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Modestly sweet finish with toasty malts, not much coffee now. It’s passable. Oakes (17815) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 30, 2016
Draught at the brewery. Dark amber-brown. No head. Sweet toasty caramel nose. Similar palate and with toasty notes. yngwie (17073) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 28, 2013
Bottle, 12oz. It pours a dark amber body, clear, and topped by a minimal sized light beige head leaving lacings. The aroma is roasted with some caramel and hints of bonfire. Some hoppy hints in the far back. It’s full to medium bodied, with a tad too much carbonation, semi-dry. It’s roasted and lightly burnt in the flavor, some hoppy hints and bitterness in the far back. A bit sweet in the finish. Overall, quite decent, but perhaps a bit sweet. 130828 brokensail (16486) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 8, 2011
A: The beer pours a clear brownish color with a finger of off-white head.
S: A weird, not very appealing aroma. There is quite a lot of roasted malt with a bit of toasted malt and nuts, too. A little bit of toffee sweetness as well as bread.
T: There is actually a touch of vanilla, which is kind of nice. Some toffee malt flavor as well as toasted malt, bread, and a little bit of caramel. There is just a touch of nuts and earthy hop flavor.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation.
O: Not the greatest aromas with a decent enough flavors. bhensonb (15336) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 4, 2011
Bottle from ericandersnavy. Pours dark brown with a foamy beige head. Aroma is sort of floral over lightly toasted malt. Sort of. Med body. Flavor is a tad buttery, with some floral aspects. The malt is very low key. Would wash down food pretty well.
