The first release in our Moveable Yeast series, Weedwacker is the result of our pitching Lawnmower wort (wort is the unfermented beer) with Bavarian Hefeweizen yeast. Weedwacker will be available draft only. This is a study in how different yeasts have different effects on beers. Note: As the base beer for this beer is a Kolsch, this beer will remain in the Kolsch style.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy pale yellow a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of banana and other fruity esters backed by sweet grains. Flavor starts with sweet bread and grains but has notes of banana and grass in the finish.

One of the lighter beers out there. Definitely malty and can be a good transition from all the belgian beers. Has a good smell but the after taste can be a bit overwhelming.

12 oz bottle: Appearance is golden brown with slow fading white head, slightly hazy. Aroma is somewhat grassy with notes of yeast and malt. Taste has a distinct yeasty note along with some noble hop flavors coming through also.

12 oz bottle. Very cloudy light gold pour with nice white head with some lacing. Nose is yeast, banana and a little belgian funk. Taste is crisp with banana, lemon zest, and yeasty doughy goodness. Very nice Kolch.

Somewhat of a "Belgian" aroma to it; some clove and banana. Pours a cloudy golden color. It kinda looks like a tripel. Clean malt flavor with some spice thrown in; coriander, followed by a dry aftertaste. Overall, it’s really good. I would have thought it was a Belgian ale and not a Kolsch with Hefe yeast.

Bottle. Aroma is yeasty banana bread. Pours hazy straw yellow, with thick white head. Taste is hefeweizen but with a subtle tropical fruit aspect (very subtle). Refreshing beer and interesting to see how much difference yeast makes.

Dixonian (1657) - Plano, Texas, USA - AUG 24, 2011
12oz bottle. Dull golden pour with a creamy white head. Aromas of spice, lemon, banana, and some grassy hops. I really like how this smells, especially in comparison to Lawnmower. Flavor is fruity and crisp like a Kolsch but has some banana and clove like a Hefe.

Sammer (1119) - Plano, Texas, USA - AUG 23, 2011
A real nice, hybrid sort of beer. Taste is lemon zest, yeast and Fruity Pebbles. Clean drinking and mild. Very decent.

ardiesr (62) - British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 21, 2011
Grainy sweet aroma. Very light straw with long lasting head. Some light pils malt flavour with sweetness. Aftertaste a bit metallic. Light and refreshing without much character.

hbmason (1086) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - AUG 11, 2011
12 ounce bottle. Cloudy yellow color with a white head. Nice citrus notes. A nice summer refresher.
