The first release in our Moveable Yeast series, Weedwacker is the result of our pitching Lawnmower wort (wort is the unfermented beer) with Bavarian Hefeweizen yeast. Weedwacker will be available draft only. This is a study in how different yeasts have different effects on beers. Note: As the base beer for this beer is a Kolsch, this beer will remain in the Kolsch style.

AmEricanbrew (6878) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - AUG 18, 2012
Clear light golden color with white sheen. Vegetal celery, earthy hop, grass, pils malt aromas. Light bodied with average carbonation. Decent lightly dry pale malt flavors with some spicy hoppage, crisp clean finish

Bottle. Poured a hazy light yellow color with a nice frothy white top and great lacing. Taste of citrus, lemon zest, coriander, and clove. Crisp but watery on the palate. The best Kölsch I’ve had to date

Cloudy yellow with a long-lasting white head. Bright aroma of oranges, wheat, zesty, and clean. Smooth on the palate, wheat dominating up front, oranges, and yeast in the finish, spices as well.

It's amazing the difference dry hops make to a beer. Definite hop aroma mixed with banana / bread. Smooth. Balanced. Easy drinking. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at The Bottle Shop on Greenville. Pours a hazy straw color with a large head. The aroma is big on the apricots and oranges, with a good dose of wheat. The flavor is the same. The citrus and tropical fruit notes are very nice. I also get some wheat and resin, with a low amount of bitterness. I also get a little banana and some pepper and yeast. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Tastes like a White IPA. Very nice.

Drank on tap at the Flying Saucer in Addison. The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. It looks about like a hefeweizen should look. The aroma is a mix of bananas and wheat. I don’t get too much clove character. The flavor is heavy on the bananas with a little bit of lemon and some wheat. There are some spices, but it is not quite the clove that you get it other hefeweizens. Medium, very soft mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Saint Arnold Weedwacker has a creamy, medium white head and a hazy, swirling straw appearance, with lots of lacing rings and many little floating particles. Lots of streaming bubbles appear. The aroma is of sugar, corriander, banana, spice, and cake. The flavor is similar- so spicy and rich. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Saint Arnold Weedwacker finishes semi-dry and pretty crisp. Overall, this is a most excellent beer. RJT

Kolsch? I thought was some sort of wheat. Weird. At any rate, it does a good job of being refreshing and flavorful. Notes of citrus, pepper, and some other lightly fruity flavors throughout. Pretty enjoyable on a 90 degree evening...Thanks to rougeau13 for the trade!

Foggy yellow pour with a small white lacy head. Great summer thirst quencher .

johno (185) - Galveston, Texas, USA - JUN 22, 2012
Light gold, dissipating white head. Nice aroma, bready, hops, yeast, bit floral. On the thin side, light, a bit frivolous, but tasty, leans bitter. Wouldn’t be averse to sessioning it.
