Odeur tres standard, goute pas grand chose. Pas épicé, goute l’eau. 7.5% alc. bien dissimulé.

Pours dark reddish brown with a huge frothy off white head. Aroma is musty malt and straw rye with sour cherries. Taste is tart with cherry and spicy buckwheat malt. Really isn’t that very good. Had high expectations. Riminho (2) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 14, 2011 does not count
Very original taste, based on the choice of rye and barley.
Classic rousse appearance.

Rye and Buckwheat ale at Vices et Versa. Tart lightly sour and a hint lactic, beautiful feel, dry pale fruits Foggy orange-amber, aromas pale fruit, tart fruit. V good!

App.: Cloudy deep mahogany with a smallish tan head.
Aroma: Sweet with a good hit of esters and brown sugar, with some molasses, peppery with some aggressive rye bread crust, a bit fruity – berries and vague jammy notes, some grain/cereal notes, but not in a bad way (like many pale lagers), fairly dark and full, pleasant.
Palate: Medium body, restrained effervescence for a fairly smooth overall impression.
Flav.: Peppery and grainy, fruitier than the nose and the malts are more serious with deeper flavours and less of the playful esters and brown sugar, pepperiness comes through again, minerals, definite influences from the rye and buckwheat, I think; dry with minimal bitterness and a roasted cereal finish.
Interesting and a nice brew from a less-than-reputable brewer. I also think the dude on the front would make a good Halloween costume.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and not much lacing. Aroma of rye malt with light residual sweetness is quite enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by rye malt with some light buckwheat notes and some balanced sweetness. Body is about average but has a creamy texture which is enjoyable with good carbonation. Bottle from Broue Ha ha. Aroma is buckwheat, molasses, spices, fruity notes, malt, bread, yeast. Flavor is buckwheat, toasted malt, spices, brown sugar, rye. Alcohol is very well hidden for a 7,5% abv. Body is a bit thin with moderate carbonation. Very good overall.
