Amber coloured beer with big dead yeast flakes floating around. Small head. Roasted herby spicy aroma. Somewhat aged taste, spicy, malty and somewhat fruity. Neutral start with a light bitter finish. A very nice well balanced beer. JoeinDahlem (1581) - Berlin, GERMANY - JUN 28, 2007
33 cL at BeerMania, no idea how old it was. Differences in rating suggest inconsistency with either brewing or storage. Anyway, I enjoyed the hell out of it. Aroma was dark malts and pungent Parmesan cheese. The flavor was awesomely tart, red-vinous and malty, with a dusty-musty backdrop that suggested some age. It’s not an oak-aged, Flemish brown, but there are some suggestions of that for whatever reason. Dry finish. I’d love to have another one, and I may have to go back there to get it. It may have been pure accident that my bottle was as tasty as it was. mar (5434) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 26, 2008

(Bottled, 7.5% ABV, aged sample from BeerMania, thanks TBone!) Dark, hazy brown with a small, but firm and very lasting head (no lace like in the Ambrée, though). Aroma of caramely-licoricey malt, dark fruit, some anise. Dried-fruity flavor with lightly roasted, sour malts, some caramel, tart oud bruin finish. Medium-bodied, dry palate with quite high, but smooth carbonation. Very mixed reviews it seems, but I liked this one. Pleasantly dried out with ageing - or maybe it was like this from the start. Anyway - I’d like to have another one, if the brewery still existed. oh6gdx (26487) - Vasa, FINLAND - OCT 4, 2008

Milk chocolate and cacao in the aroma. Roasted malt, cinnamon and cacao in the flavor. Licorice. Thin to medium bodied. A bit exaggerated beer, but quite drinkable. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - OCT 27, 2008
Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a large, creamy, off-white head and a deep brown body. Aroma of really strong cinnamon, raisins, brandy and dough. Taste is brandy, dough, vegitables, and cinnamon. Creamy mouthfeel with very light carbonation. daniele (9435) - ITALY - AUG 19, 2008
(Bottled, very old vintage).
Dark ruby color, small steady beige head. Fruity, toffee aroma. Slightly sour, toffeish (vintage) notes. Dark fruits. Ageing has made body quite thin, madeira wine -like. Foamy carbonation. Aged better than Ambree.
