Bottle sample at a tasting at avrashi’s place. Thanks avrashi. Dark brown. Fruity, a little woodsy aroma, some peach. A little alcoholic taste, sweet with some chocolate liquor. Smooth texture, full body, a little alcoholic finish and wood.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Black beer lasting tan head. Not many esters on the aroma, just a little malty brown malt aroma. To be honest it’s mostly brown malt in the mouth too. A little vinous flavour if you go looking for it. Chocolate brownie flavour. Over carbonated makes it harsh in the mouth. Decent enough dubbel with fine chocolate brownie flavours, not much on the finish. ok. It’s a decent strong brown ale.

Smaak: verbrande kandij, koffie, rood fruit, alcoholisch. Weinig koolzuurprikkel. Medium volmondig. Afdronk: wat dun met wat wijn. Hier had ik meer van verwacht.

What a unique brew, fruity, woody, red wine like. Quite some alcohol over the brown bready malts, but very different and that what makes me recommend it. Not the alcohol heat, uncompromising, but the difference from whatever dubbel or barrel aged dark ale you’ve had just makes it fun. (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

Bottle from Secrets d’Abbaye, Vendin-les-Bethune - FR. Color: deep dark brown beer with small ruby reflection, no carbonation and small ivory brownish head. Smell: caramel malt, red fruits, porto notes. Red wines barrel notes. Tanin. Taste: medium body with caramel malt, balanced with red fruits, grapes, wine notes and tanin. Red fruits, and porto notes. Good attenuation. Aftertaste: red fruits, sweet red wine. Caramel malt. Quiet interesting.
