(Bottle, 0.75 l, on 2008-12-24) Deep amber. Almost clear. Medium sized white head. Malts and hint of dried plum in nose. Full bodied palate with quite a lot of carbonation. Malts, dried plum, bitterness, syrup, sweetness. Malts and light bitterness in aftertaste. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - OCT 24, 2010
Pours a deep copper amber with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a sweet toasty caramel malty nose with some light holiday spice and light fruity notes. Starts with some light toasty caramel sweetness and a touch light fruits and clove before a slightly drier and earthy finish. A pretty true to style and complex biere de garde. A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s Night of the Gaylords.KnutAlbert (6754) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 22, 2010
Dirty yellow brown with a thin off white head. Nothing special really. Very yeasty and sugary sweet with a bit of bread and cinnamon. Spicy finish. Blah.
Hazy brown beer, firm head, lovely spicy notes in the aroma. Christmas spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg and white pepper, fine malt, some bitterness in the finish. Some cheating here suing the soices, perhaps, but a nice beer. blutt59 (6564) - Dallas, Texas, USA - NOV 27, 2009
bottle, amber color with some off white foam, aroma is sugary with some malt and spice, flavor is fairly thin with Christmas spices and some cinnamon toast crunch, finish is thin as well

Bottle: The aroma is fruit (plum and grape) and candi sugar. It pours a hazy, bordering on cloudy, amber with a small off-white head that fades to a thin film. The flavor has lots of grape and plum. There is some faint tartness in the background. The finish has some light caramel and the faintest hint of spice. Light-medium bodied with lively carbonation.
Pours hazy orange / amber with a small off-white head. The aroma has the biere de garde maltiness, but is considerably sweeter with an almost candy sugar like presence.& light nuttiness. Medium body that has biting carbonation. The taste is drier than the aroma with a papery aspect interwoven with the aroma traits along with some lemony sourness. The finish has a hint of peach. Okay beer. nuplastikk (6289) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 13, 2013
750ml bottle split with Anndiesel. Unfiltered burgundy brown. I really enjoy the subtle, delicate malt nuances of a French Bierre de Garde, and it is always a pleasure to try another. This one leans into Belgian Christmas Ale/WInter Warmer territory, with luscious amber malt tones, and some candied fruitcake flavors. Overall displays a great balance. A touch of bitter balancing bitterness up front leads toasty, clean malt finish, touches of raisin and cherry. Right on, a great Christmas beer. Bottle - 75cL swing-top - from the Rare Beer Club. Pours a translucent copper with a short, fading white head. Aroma is grassy and yeasty with dried fruit, light caramel, and sweet malt. Taste is sweet malt, light caramel, hints of honey, dusty yeast, grassy hops and soft spices. Body is light-medium and the carbonation delicate. Ends with more honey, sweet malt, dried fruit notes, spices, light yeast, caramel, straw and grassy hops. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - FEB 2, 2010
Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy.
Beer pours orange with a white head. The aroma is toffee, honey and some sweet malts. The flavor is more of the same with a nice earthy hop bitterness to prevent the beer from being too sweet. Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation.
