Bottle 75cl, a clear amber beer with good creamy head. Nose is grainy with yeast touch. Aroma is spicy on licorice and cinnamon, caramel and vanilla touch, sweet, cherry touch, grainy, good. erickok (6037) - Leuven, BELGIUM - FEB 20, 2013
It’s brown bodied, slightly misty and light tanned head might look Christmas-y, the aroma immediately makes clear the intent of this brew: to be a lightly spiced yet very drinkable ale that many can enjoy. And although I’m not overly impressed with the light bready and nutty aroma - a bit too mellow for me - the palate brings forward a sweet bittersweet brew that combines caramel malts, cookie spices and surprisingly high drinkability. Certainly a well made beer, but probably the best part about it is how it does not try to mimic the well-known Belgian Christmas sippers or turns around and be nothing like it. Instead, this delicate yet rich tasting brew brings a well flavoured and enjoyable beer for those winter night that aren’t quite as cold as tv would like you to think it is. Suits me well. Pours clear bright mahogany into a trappist glass. Off-white head quickly recedes to nothing. Hot toasted caramel and roasted nut aromas. Slick and sweet from front to back with a lasting alcohol burn. notalush (5883) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Medium amber beer - lively at first, but the fizzy head sinks to a small lace - aroma of toffee, toasty maltiness, moderate esters, candied citrus, dusty/cobweb yeast notes - moderate carbonation in the mouth - light to medium bodied - flavor is fairly sweet (candied fruit, toffee, baked apples), but with balancing notes of hops (bitterness, floral notes), earthy, dusty yeast, and some spice/warmth on the tail end - finish of toasted malts and lightly caramelized sugars, but with a light balancing tartness - another subtle but delicious beer from this brewery. hayduke (5571) - Eureka, California, USA - NOV 25, 2009
Well, shucks. The French can make good beer. This 750 bottle from BevMo poured a slightly hazy amber with a small white head and light lacing. Nose of sweet caramel malts and cinnamon spices. Medium body and mouthfeel, with moderate carbonation. The flavor is slightly sweet and the spiciness is present. A very nice holiday brew.

Sampled on 1/8/2010. This Biere de Garde pours a medium orange gold color from a 75cl swing-top bottle. Medium to small sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, with a touch of honey. A medium bodied Biere de Garde. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Slightly sweet. A very drinkable, but not remarkable winter ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet

Bottle from La Cave D’Emeraude, Dinard, Brittany, France. Dark copper coloured with rich red fruit, vanilla and cinnamon flavours followed by a spicy almond and rich creamy currant and burnt toffee finish. Excellent! KansaiBeerLvrs (5191) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 29, 2015
Bottle on sale at Cave a Bulle. Page 24 Biere de Noël is an amber winter ale 6.9% picked up at Cave a Bulles in Paris and drunk there during my trip. It pours a deep reddish brown with a thick beige head. The nose is a malty sweet breadiness with a touch of spices. Med-light bodied with a soft pillowy mouthfeel. The taste is nutty, boozy, cinnamon biscuits and sugared plums. Seasonally appropriate flavor profile. A pretty average Christmas beer.
