nice dark yellow color. sweet smell. a bit salty as well. very mild taste. a bit bitter but barely. goes down really smooth. CaptainCougar (7634) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - OCT 24, 2010
Pours a deep copper amber with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a sweet toasty caramel malty nose with some light holiday spice and light fruity notes. Starts with some light toasty caramel sweetness and a touch light fruits and clove before a slightly drier and earthy finish. A pretty true to style and complex biere de garde. 750mL fliptop courtesy of ryan. Poured a clear orange to amber with a small, white head leaving small, spotty lace. Nose is apple cider, non-oxidized red apples, overripe pear. Taste is all malty, soft, rich oatmeal malty with clover honey and very moderate spice. Chewy, starchy palate. Soft carbonation. Pretty much a textbook example of perfect malt extraction. bottle-conditioned 750ml. lightly-hazed chestnut brown body with a medium-sized sandy head. fruitcake nose of nuts / nut oils, wood, berries / jam / maraschino cherries / fruit / melanoidin malt. soft texture dark baked cracker malt with lightly musty / tart yeast. a slightly-dark sweet, woody, nutty, fruity, estery winter beer that I would peg for Belgian. lusikka (7833) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 1, 2013
750 ml bottle, BBE 03/2010, thanks Timo A. Pours a cloudy amber colour with a white head. Aroma of caramel, plums and some bread. Flavour of caramel malts, bread, plums, peach, cheesecake and hay. Medium bodied, oily mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Very smooth and fruity brew. Aging seems to work with this beer. KansaiBeerLvrs (5389) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 29, 2015
Bottle on sale at Cave a Bulle. Page 24 Biere de Noël is an amber winter ale 6.9% picked up at Cave a Bulles in Paris and drunk there during my trip. It pours a deep reddish brown with a thick beige head. The nose is a malty sweet breadiness with a touch of spices. Med-light bodied with a soft pillowy mouthfeel. The taste is nutty, boozy, cinnamon biscuits and sugared plums. Seasonally appropriate flavor profile. A pretty average Christmas beer. Bottled (from Alko). Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is bready malts, some slight sour fruits as well as some cinnamon. Cinnamon increases as the beer gets warmer. Flavour is earth, sour wood, smooth fruityness and some yeast. Gets more fullpalated and tastier as it gets warmer.
