Hazy amber brown beer. Little pale tan head. Light toffee nose with a trace of tawny Port and oak barrel. Palate is light, semi dry and a little minerally. Light creamy malt with a little oak sweetness. Mild Tawny Port and toffee. Minerally crisp finish. Decent flavour but I wish it didn’t have thsi slightly tired feel.
500 ml bottle. Golden color, small off white head. Aroma of caramel. Taste is butterscotch, vanilla. Simple and easy to drink. jtclockwork (16581) - , New Jersey, USA - JUL 30, 2011

Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. BA. WhooHa! Pours very hazy amber wth a transient head. Aroma is fruit, malt, and a light vinosity. Med body. Flavor is quite vinous, but it’s like wine diluted wth water so far as the vinosity goes. A bit of oak lurks in the back sides of the tongue. And the finish is malt and port. Weird. It fiishes dry and oaky.Quite the unusual ale. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - MAR 28, 2011

Flavor is rather bland, though no solvent notes; bitter finish with some butter notes. Light body, low warmth, medium carbonation, and dry. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - MAY 2, 2011
(500ml bottle) Pours a lightly hazy amber body with a spare cream head. Aroma of apple, cinnamon, pear, and roasted nuts. Flavor of yeast, apple, caramel, and roasted nuts with a somewhat dry finish. crossovert (12934) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 21, 2011
It pours a clear copper color with a soapy white head that quickly dissipates with no lacing.
The smell is nice. It has notes of port, cocoa, dark malts, and some earthiness.
The flavor is a bit bigger. The port comes through a bit more with a vinous taste along with some other fruits. There is also some vanilla and a brown ale-like base. The bitterness is low.
The mouthfeel is a bit thin, but it is nice and drinkable. Sammy (12205) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 22, 2012

Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges quickly. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grains with just a slight hint of port. Flavor overall was thin with some sweet grains and bread without much else.
