Pours a murky brown color with a thin white head. Pleasant aroma of caramel, fruits, yeast and mild smoke. Good flavor of caramel and yeast with some mild fruits. The body is medium with an oily texture and gentle carbonation. A good dubbel.

Unclear medium amber color with a small, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, coffee, sweet, dust. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (020308)

008-03-05. Dark brown bod with a modest tan head that fades (3+). Mild aroma, tangy prunes/raisins, some kind of dark fruit over malt, which continues in the flavour where it adds magnitude to the tangy fruit aspect. Malt is present, but a touch dilute, and secondary to the afore mentioned fruit character. (6+) Average palate is thinner than Id personally like for the style. Average, pleasant.

Bottled at Monks Caf, Stockholm. Pours out in a clear reddish brown colour with purple hints with a low creamy off-white foam. Rich fruity and balanced aroma of dark cherries, berries, almonds, wood and mild spices. Medium-bodied with notes of almond-paste, sweet licorice, tart cherry-skins and dates. Long fruity finish of over-riped cherries, tobacco, almonds and dates. Nice one!

ZBF2008: From tap. Pours hazy brown with a lacing white head. Roasted malt aroma with a light spiced touch. Flavour holds a smooth chocolate malt flavour with a minor spice note. Lovely lingering roasted finish with a wellbalanced spice note. Lovely.

2008 Zythos Bier Festival, Belgium. Unpleasant aroma that reminds me of a kitchen sink, soapy and metallic. Appearance also not great, muddy brown with no head. The flavour is quite rich and vinous with a little maltiness and a sharp bite at the end.

Prsence dun mince col mousseux et dune fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Got de mlasse fruite avec une pointe chocolat. Dure moyenne de larrire got. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture lgrement crmeuse. Faible effervescence en bouche. Arrire got lgrement chocolat. (Rating #1436)

My Bottom Line:
Chocolatey malts become one with the bready yeast in this docile Abbey Dubbel. Its finish is devoid of tasty consequences, but its delicate fruity esters and well-fed mouthfeel add to the enjoyment.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam settles on top of the cloudy brown.
-Effervescence is rather active, but keeps servicing the pillowy mouthfeel.
-The flavor profile is quite straightforward; there arent any surprises here once youve smelled it.
-A slightly mineral touch appears in the aroma once in a while.
