Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, fully diminishing. Body is hazy medium amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie, toasted grain), lightly yeasty (mold, basement), with notes of apples and pear syrup. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightlly unclean. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Second experience with this one, but just as disappointed with a bottle to myself. Clumsy, without direction or character, syrupy sweet, slightly off aftertaste. Better than the Athene, though, thankfully. notalush (5876) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 4, 2007
Thanks to beerlando for this - hazy orange beer - the aroma is equal parts sweet and tart, with notes of orange marmalade and citrus pulp - semi-tart orange flavor, with just enough candi sugar sweetness to cut it - very pulpy and earthy, with a light, refreshing herbal character - very soft, yet lively at the same time - I’m impressed by this brewer so far. beastiefan2k (3981) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - NOV 4, 2007
Bottled shared buy notalush, I also have one in a trade from Beerlando. This brewer is really good and I cannot wait to keep drinking his stuff. It pours an orange-copper color, completely murky with no clarity. Aroma is dill (bastard Joe threw that in my head) or more like it’s smells are fresh herbs that are green yet rejuvenating. In general it s springtime on your nose with yeasty (dough sweetness) highlights. Taste is fresh and light sweetness of a Belgian Saison. Medium body but also very alive. It’s just so fun to drink. It’s awesome in its simplicity, nice spices with a strong saison. JoeMcPhee (9426) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 3, 2007
Bottle shared by someone (it was getting late). Deep amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma is honeyish, some herbal and earthy character. Surprisingly light malts. Flavour is quite soft and fruity, some nice herbal notes, light mint and soft spiciness. A touch of light gruit-like mintiness. Lingering herbal spiciness. Very similar house character to the saison, but doesn’t come across as characterful as that beer did. PilsnerPeter (3045) - Flushing, New York, USA - NOV 3, 2007
Bottle: Bronze pour topped by a consistent white head. Nose is a mix of herbal notes with plummy/pruney fruits. The flavor is slightly more developed witha vanilla sweet hint in the background, accompanied by a fruity hint of prunes. The late palate has some residual herbal/mild spices. Simple, but decently crafted Belgian style Strong Ale.

Bottle shared by EDA. Very nice label had perhaps more excited for the beer than I should’ve been. Mild hops in the aroma, bread, a touch of molasses. Lemon, rye bread, belgian yeasts taste... very melloe, not much going on, and exceptionally thin. I kept smelling this and tasting this trying to get more out of it but no matter how hard I dug I couldn’t find anything. It’s not that it was one-dimensional, more than I just couldn’t really find anything. There were also no discernible flaws, just a lack of character. elmatador00 (519) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - OCT 26, 2007
Courtesy of Dragonstout. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Reminded me more of a Quad then a Strong Ale. Very sweet. Hints of caramel, candied sugar, molasses, dark fruits, spices. Finished sweet and carbonation danced on my tongue. Loved every sip of this beer. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - OCT 23, 2007
750ml bottle courtesy of Dragonstout. Pours copper with a white head. Smells of cloves, bananas, citrus, caramel, molasses and spice. Tastes of spice, dry malt, caramel, some residual sugar. Well balanced and mellow with a clove like finish. Nice! Floback (550) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - OCT 20, 2007
UPDATED: NOV 23, 2007 750 ml bottle courtesy of SoLan. Thanks bro!! Much anticipation upon opening, as I loved the Saison Athene by this brewery. Pours an appealing honey-orange body underneath a small white rim that disappears quickly. Nose qualities are similar to a saison: honey, citrus, and a subtle yeast skunkiness. Mouth flavors are almost subtler than the nose with similar notes of honey, estery spices, pear, and apple cider. Soft/medium carbonation, medium body. Extremely drinkable; no trace of the 8% ABV in the palate or character. A great beer. ryan (3186) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - OCT 18, 2007
Bottle from Beerlando. Mostly clear amber with a small beige head. The nose is lightly sweet, vinous and floral with caramel and golden raisins. Flavor is light sweet with cotton candy, toffee, raisins and herbal hops. Medium body is very soft with very light carbonation. Just a bit more attenuation and higher carbonation and this would be outstanding.
