COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
From our favorite Floridian brewery comes this Belgian-style dubbel. Its rich and fruity, with some herbal flavors, and some funkiness thrown in for good measure. And, as always, somehow its reminiscent of its hometown of Tarpon Springs.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is yeasty with some citrus. Flavor is tart and fruity with some dark fruit and yeast. This is almost a cross between a sour ale and a saison. Still its ok but the sourness is not something i was looking for in a saison.

750ml bottle from Vine and Barley. Pours a hazy reddish orange. Nose is spicy with prominant belgian yeast and a light touch of berry tartness on the nose. Spicy up front very akin to the saison athene but ends with a hint of caramel and sour berry tartness. I really love this beer. It just hits all the right flavor notes for me. Very reminiscent of a Fantome.

Bottle shared by phaleslu DLD eve. Ive been pretty happy with the two saint somewhere beers Ive tried- athene being the other. Both have been quite complex, earthy, and funky. However, i liked the athene better than this. This was solid, but there was a weird bubblegum peary sweetness that seemed otu of place. good stuff though.

750 ml bottle from smith4498- thanks again, Jason! This one pours darker than most saisons, a hazy brown color with a medium beige head. Aroma of bread, malts, mixed fruits (overripe apples and some berries), spices. Flavor is also bready, malty, and fruity, with some yeast and pepper. I wish I had taken better notes on this because Im not doing much justice to the complexity. Medium-bodied, with decent carbonation and a bready mouthfeel. Interesting take on a saison and pretty damn good.

750ml bottle. Reddish orange pour. Bretty tartness, berry, fruit and herbal aroma. Taste is tart berry, herbal flowers, Belgian yeast esters, spicy hops all fighting for attention. A little heavier than your typical saison, but very inventive. Good brew.

Darker orange - light brown pour. Aroma is flowery honey, sweet fruit, and some yeast. Flavor is the same, a little lemony, sugary, and some earthiness that is a little unpleasant. It tasted better as it warmed. Interesting beer.

750 ml bottle shared with Teege up at Redlight. This pours a hazy reddish brown color topped by a small, bubble beige colored head of foam that leaves some sudsy wash behind on the glass. The aroma shows notes of wildflowers, hibiscus, dark berries, and a spicy belgian yeast. Candied sugar, dark fruits, and bread comprise the malt base. The flavor follows with the dark fruits and bready malt to go with the spices of the belgian yeast, pepper, berries, and lots of flowers. The flowers really add a nice twist to everything along with the spicy hops on the finish. Medium bodied with balanced carbonation and a clean, dry finish. This one was a long time in coming and it was a solid beer.

Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - APR 18, 2010
750ml bottle. The pour yields a dark, stratified body that ranges from reddish-orange to a muddled, sandy-brown. A small head of beige, bubbly foam leaves behind a wet, soapy wash that mostly rejoins the body below. The nose displays a wide range of components, from brown candy, candied fig and dark bread in the malt base, to notes of spicy Belgian yeast, ginger, wildflowers, and apricots. Flavors are similar, showing the dark, bready malt and clean grain in the background, with a spice profile that included ginger, orange peel, pepper, and loads of flowers. Though nothing really offends, things seem a bit overly busy and lacking in focus. The palate is medium-plus in stature, pretty dry, and balanced in terms of carbonation. Peppery hops and wildflowers show on the fairly clean finish. Good brew.
