1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Acetone, effervescence, and earthiness.
Two of those things are fine.
Acetone in the aroma and in the taste. An unpleasant offering from a fine brewer. Perhaps a bad batch? Who knows. Won’t be trying this again.
Hazed brown amber thin tan head. Soft musk and a touch of cocoa on the nose. Medium bodied, tangy, earthy, almost acetone, funky wood, dry. Old wood sour notes.

Dark brown amber with a thick, lathery cocoa head. Sharply tart, funky, and acidic nose throwing off heaps of barnyard and farmhousey notes. Deeply sour, acidic farmhousey body. Vinegary beer notes throughout. Smooth malty backbone. Sour and sweet finish. The wild yeast/bacteria are in command. willisread (3651) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 7, 2016
Bottle pour at Shelton Brothers. Pours a pitch black with a finger of foam. Dark coffee, cacao and saison yeast notes. A bit of plum and prune, with some herbal notes. Clean on the palate with a roasted hay character. Bitter finish. 60minuteman (1765) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 23, 2016
Bottle from Beer Store. Tang and tart. Malt and yeast. Citrus and dark fruits. Very fruity. Spice and floral. This beer is all over the place. Balanced and clean. Light body and duration. Sweet but earthy. oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 6, 2016
Pours a darkish red/brown. Aromas of spice, coriander, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor has an alcohol taste to it, mixed with a nice smokey dark fruit. Also has strong hints of spice and orange.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with large beige head that lasts. The aroma is earthy malt and spice. Medium mouth, roast, fruity malt, light finish, odd. wombat23 (1785) - Texas, USA - FEB 8, 2016
Shared 25.4 oz. bottle. 2014 vintage. Pours a dark murky mahogany with a large beige head that’s initially quite fizzy. Aroma of fermented grape, sour cherry, funk, mildew and vinegar. Taste is earthy, musty, oxidized red wine, rust, funk, dark malt, and dark fruits . Loads of acidity and sourness, combined with an ashy and burnt bitter element make for a rather unsavory concoction. Skip this one. darbeer75 (991) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - FEB 8, 2016
Aroma: sour, a little funky with cherry notes; some malt; Appearance: black with initially billowy head that dissipates quickly; Taste: simultaneously sour, tart and bitter -- and not in a good way; Palate: medium body with finish continuing theme of sour/bitterness; Overall: going to be tough to make it through. Wouldn’t buy again. BillWyce (1104) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 2, 2015
2014 bottling. Pours opaque nut brown, maybe some red in it. Soapy 1-finger bone-colored head that was gone quickly. Aroma of earthy yeast mixed with nutty malt and a touch of char. Body is medium and lightly oily. Dry finish with a touch of astringency. A touch of char up front, giving way to flavors of nutty malt and some sour cherry. Sour nose. Dark cola brown pour. Chemical quality to the flavor. Moderately dark malt.
