Bottle courtesy of BeerandBlues2, thank you sir! Hazy dark brown color, thick brown head, solid lacing. Aroma of coffee grounds. Taste starts with riasty coffee and cocoa, then a barnyard funkiness that doesn’t quite mesh. Near miss, I would say. mcberko (18060) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 31, 2012
750mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber brown with a medium beige head. Aroma of rye malt, some dark spices, mild farmhouse notes, and herbally bready notes. Flavour is fairly acetic, with a chemical quality, rye bready, some balsamic vinegar, metallic notes, and loads of weird musty notes - very bizarre. Black saisons are usually a big miss for me, and this is one of the poorer attempts I’ve had. Not good at all - haven’t been impressed by this brewery at all. jtclockwork (16685) - , New Jersey, USA - JUL 24, 2013
Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Nose and taste of smoke, bandaid, grape soda, old fruit and cocoa. Medium body. brokensail (16486) - Dublin, California, USA - APR 23, 2013
Almost black pour with a khaki head. Peppery and roasty nose. Some hints of vinegar, lots of anise, grass, and grape. Quite dry, maybe a little tea. Nice aroma. The flavor is a little less impressive. Very roasty and acetic. Grape soda, pepper, black tea, and lots of grass. Fairly dry and very highly carbonated. bhensonb (15336) - Woodland, California, USA - FEB 11, 2015
750 c&c from Wine & Cheese. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is a bit winey/woody. A dry astringent grape aroma. Med + body. Flavor is winey/grapey with something suggesting a soap, some wood, definitely some earth. There’s some dark maltiness, and some tartness. To me this is something out of a red wine barrel, tho apparently it has never seen wood. Finishing dry, earthy/woody, red berry fruity, and something herbal? The back of the bottle exclaims mysterious. Got that right. I’m really liking the contrasting, mixed flavors.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with large beige head that lasts. The aroma is earthy malt and spice. Medium mouth, roast, fruity malt, light finish, odd. Tmoney99 (14601) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 8, 2013
Bottle. Poured a hazy dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good to excellent lacing. Moderate dark herbal and yeast aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectation where met. Lubiere (13941) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 7, 2013
A hazed dark brown saison with a thick collapsing mocha head. In aroma, very herbaceous and grassy malt with bitter chocolate, light Brett, dirt, interesting. In mouth, a nice fruity sour chocolate with light lactic points, Brett, foliage, off but in a nice way. BeerandBlues2 (13594) - Escondido, California, USA - FEB 18, 2013
Bottle at Max’s Taphouse. Pours clear black with a medium, creamy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Medium body and carbonation. j12601 (12601) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUL 23, 2017
